hi, have been to pdc earlier this year and enjoyed it so much we are travelling again with the family(adults) this time.it will be oh birthday, so am looking for ideas of what to do for a special treat, something out of the ordinary. is there helicopter rides available? or can anyone suggest something different to make it a day to remember. thanks

A company used to offer this, but with the recession etc it finish a few years ago.

Private boat cruise perhaps? Both catlanza and karolina do these but you're looking at serious money to charter I believe.

thanks to all for taking the time to reply,did the south island tour back in march, think the grand tour includes much of what we have already seen. the boat hire sounds interesting but depends on how much it will cost, there will be 6 adults altogether to split the cost.but then again it was very windy when we were last there, think 1 of my sons would be mighty sea sick, he was bad enough on a 2 hour boat trip in majorca when the sea was calm. lol. thanks again for all suggestions.

I believe the catmaran (catlanza) can be chartered for between £2k-5k a day depending on season (holds 60 people). Karolina costs a little less. You can charter much small boats for about £500 a day.

Myself and the GF did the Catlanza 2 weeks ago.Was a great trip,some beautiful sights.

Sea was calm enough on the outward journey,but coming back was extremely choppy!.Wouldn't be ideal for someone not comfortable on water.

Try a website called PDCreview,they have some other excursions not listed on TA.There is a wine tour,that takes in the 3 main vineyards on the island,if you like that kind of thing.

Whatever you do Im sure you will have a great time,sun,sea and family...all the ingredients for a great holiday.

just to update if anyone in future is interested there are helicopter rides in lanzarote. starting price 199 euro!!! we tried to book as it was oh birthday and wanted a special trip to remember, 3 of us were interested in booking but we were told there were no rides available for 3 people on the day we wanted

they would have taken the booking if there were 4 of us.

last minute were very helpful trying to arrange it for us but unfortunately couldnt get the helicopter company to accept a booking for only 3

hi, have been to pdc earlier this year and enjoyed it so much we are travelling again with the family(adults) this time.it will be oh birthday, so am looking for ideas of what to do for a special treat, something out of the ordinary. is there helicopter rides available? or can anyone suggest something different to make it a day to remember. thanks

yes 199 euro for around a 20min helicopter ride and that was the cheapest!

if you book 6 people the price was 1100 euro.

Might explain why its not flying very often then.....

I paid an extra 28euro for the apartment for a week last August. You would want to have money to burn..

yes went to rancho texas instead, a bit more sedate lol. we saw a helicopter flying around regular but dont know if it was the helicopter tour.
