Placebo – European Tour 2023

Placebo will perform on Thursday, July 13, 2023, starting with 9:30 pm, in Piazza Napoleone , in Lucca , as part of the Lucca Summer Festival 2023 .

Steve Hewitt left the band in 2007, due to personal and musical differences. He was replaced the following year by Steve Forrest. Placebo released two albums with Steve Forrest, who left in 2015 to pursue his own musical career.

Since 2015, Placebo perform as a duo with four additional live musicians on stage.

The band’s discography consists of seven studio albums, three compilation albums, six extended plays, and thirty-one singles.

Their self-titled debut album was released in 1996, Without You I’m Nothing in 1998, Black Market Music in 2000, Sleeping with Ghosts in 2003, Meds in 2006, Battle for the Sun in 2009, and Loud Like Love in 2013.

To date, the band sold around 11 million records worldwide.

LUCCA SUMMER FESTIVAL

The first edition of the Lucca Summer Festival was held in 1998, when Bob Dylan, George Benson and Joe Cocker performed on stage.

Over time, important names attended the festival, such as David Bowie, James Brown, Mark Knopfler, Jamiroquai, Seal, Zucchero, Ray Charles, Elton John, Paul Simon, Rod Stewart, Oasis, Anastacia, Giorgia, Green Day, Ennio Morricone, The Rolling Stones, Sting, Scorpions, Alanis Morissette, The Cranberries, Buena Vista Social Club, Joan Baez, Natalie Cole, Youssou N’Dour, and Eagles.

As usual, the Lucca Summer Festival 2023 will take place during the month of July, in Lucca. So far, besides Placebo, the participation of Simply Red , Celine Dion , Blur , KISS and OneRepublic was confirmed.

Piazza Napoleone is the main square of Lucca, and one of the venues where, every year in the summer, is held one of the most important music festivals in Italy , the Lucca Summer Festival.

Piazza Napoleone is located inside the city walls of Lucca, about 650 meters away from the Lucca railway station. The closest bus stop is Napoleone , located in the northwestern corner of the square, on the bus Lines 5, LAM Blu and LAM Verde.

Placebo, Peaks! – Lucca Summer Festival, 13/07/2023

Da Torino a Londra, da “The new Alt” a “Rock Italia” fino ad arrivare sul palco del Lucca Summer Festival.

Il sound dei Peaks! è potente e rispecchia fedelmente le influenze musicali della band, spaziando dall’alternative rock al new metal e passando dal punk. I Peaks! sul palco non si risparmiano, infuocando la platea prima dell’arrivo dei Placebo.

I Placebo approdano al Lucca Summer Festival giovedì 13 luglio per la seconda data del tour italiano, che proseguirà a Imola (il 14), Matera (il 16) e Piazzola sul Brenta (il 18) e Sassari (1 agosto).

Ci suonano i brani del nuovo album: Never Let Me Go, pubblicato il 25 marzo dalla Rise Records, del quale suonano ben 11 pezzi , escludendo solo The Prodigal e This Is What You Want. Never Let Me Go è un album che ritorna alle sonorità originali della band, nei loro testi si trattano argomenti estremamente attuali, ecologia, brexit e salvaguardia della privacy, di cui si parla nel brano Surrounded By Spies.

Si parte con Forever Chemicals , poi con Beautiful James un brano più “radio friendly”, che è uscito, infatti, prima come singolo ed è quindi più conosciuto dal pubblico che lo canta con Brian. Seguono altri pezzi del nuovo album, interrotti solo da una canzone del 1996 Bionic, dall’omonimo album, che nei live è sempre da capogiro.

La voce di Molko è sempre perfetta come l’intesa con Stefan. Il duo non ripropone i suoi brani più celebri, mancano pezzi come Special K o Every You, Every Me o Special Needs, si concentrano per lo più sul nuovo album eseguendo solo Too Many Friends, Song To Say Goodbye, The Bitter End e Infra – Red , che fanno letteralmente impazzire il pubblico.

Arriviamo alla fine con l’esecuzione di Shout , cover dei Tears For Fears che i Placebo hanno registrato e che portano in tour per il suo messaggio di protesta, e con Running Up That Hill , cover di Kate Bush che grazie a Stranger Things è ritornata nelle classifiche.

I Placebo confermano il loro successo, il loro impegno politico e sociale e sono sempre una garanzia con il loro solido alternative rock.

Dopo aver  annunciato la partecipazione al Lucca Summer Festival  il 13 luglio in Piazza Napoleone I Placebo, una delle band più rappresentative degli ultimi 25 anni di alternative rock,  aggiungono una nuova data,  argata D’Alessandro e Galli al tour Italiano. La band di Brian  Molko e Stefan Olsdal sara’di scena 1° agosto allo Stadio Vanni Sanna di Sassari  per un imperdibile serata.
