Manila to Cebu

Manila to Cebu

Best options, other options, manila to cebu schedule, how to get from manila to cebu.

There are two main ways to get to Cebu City from Manila.

You can either fly from Ninoy Aquino International Airport to Mactan-Cebu International Airport or go by sea.

Technically it is possible to get to Cebu from Manila via a combination of RORO buses and ferries, too, though the journey will be a long and not the most comfortable one.

How far is Cebu from Manila?

The air distance between Manila and Cebu is approximately 570 km.

The sea distance between the Port of Manila and the Port of Cebu is roughly 770 km.

The overland distance via Pan Philippine Hwy/AH 26 or via Western Nautical Hwy is slightly under 900 km.

How long does it take to get from Manila to Cebu?

Flying normally takes between 1 hour 15 minutes and one and a half hour.

The sea voyage is likely to rob you off your whole day of your life, and anyway will not take less than 22 hours.

Similarly, travelling by a combination of land transport and ferries, be ready to spend 30 hours and more.

What means of transport to choose?

Flying is definitely the fastest and the most convenient way to get to Cebu from Manila.

Taking a boat is slow and not necessarily cheap yet it is quite a picturesque way to get to Cebu as you will be sailing past several islands on your way from Luzon to Cebu.

Travelling by bus & ferry is exhausting though may prove slightly cheaper than flying or travelling by boat.

How much does it cost to get from Manila to Cebu?

The airfare for Manila-Cebu route typically ranges between PHP2,500 and PHP9,000.

The sea travel can cost anywhere between PHP2,200 and PHP7,000 depending on the type of the cabin you choose.

A combination ticket for bus and ferry should cost within PHP2,500–PHP5,000 range.

How to get from Manila to Cebu by ferry

There are direct ferries between port of Manila and port of Cebu operated by 2GO vessels. Crossing the ocean is not for the faint-hearted as the sea can be rough.

Though technically possible, travelling from Manila to Cebu by bus and ferry is time consuming, exhausting and not that cheap hence not recommended. Yet you can consider it – this is the plan of how it works.

Manila–Cebu is one of the most popular routes in the Philippines served by over two dozens of daily flights.

Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The best route will depend on the purpose of your trip and how many persons are in this trip. Option 1. If its for pure Cebu holiday, and maximum of 4 persons, my suggestion is you leave your car in your garage and take the plane to Cebu City, should not cost you more than 3K per passenger if you booked early. You can rent a car or hire a van when you arrive in Cebu, the rate should be around 1k to 4k/day depending on the type of car you need and the length of trip. Option 2. If its part roadtrip and Cebu holiday, without time constraints, and you want to check if Mayon volcano is in Naga City or in Albay and check why San Juanico Bridge is the Philippines longest bridge, then the QC-Bicol-Samar-Leyte-Cebu route is for you. It will be a 2 roro/ferry crossing, first is Matnog-Allen and the second is either, Ormoc-Cebu; Palompon-Cebu or Maasin-Cebu. Depending on your driving stamina it could be a 2 day to 3 days trip (I heard the road condition in Samar are still bad for small cars), just make sure you call the shipping company for their latest roro schedule. The travel cost (hotel, food, gas, ferry) for this route is around P15-20K (one way) to reach Cebu. The cost difference of this option to the first option is around P 8K and 2 days extra travel and a sore butt. Option 3. If you plan a pure Cebu holiday but also want to know where Mayon volcano true location is, then the QC-Bicol-Masbate-Cebu route is for you. I already posted the details for this trip above. Again be sure to call the shipping lines for their current schedule. This route is approx a 1.5 day travel (if you didn't miss the ferries) and travel cost should be below P15k. It will be almost the same cost as option 1 (for 4 persons travelling), the trip is a day longer compared to option 1, and a less sore butt compared to option 2. But in this option you dont need to rent a car once in Cebu, and save at least P 1K/day.

Roroadtrip vacations are fun esp when everyone's into the journey more than the destination. I take every such an opportunity to just drive. You'll have sked-flexibility & rush-freedom. No flights to catch or miss. No luggage weight limits to think about. You can just load stuff into the trunk. Best of all, you get to play by ear. The quality bonding time, the fun in driving your familiar car over a rental.....These summed up, to me, are priceless. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Just an update, I called 2GO, their estimate is 25k while Gothong's estimate is 32k. Although, i like travelling by land, im not familiar with the route so i might go with the former. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Manila to Cebu by private car

I'm planning to travel by car from Manila and would like a travel guide especially in the Province of Samar. 1. Is Matnog-Allen the best way to get to Cebu? Do you recommend another route?2. I have been informed that I will have to load my car into the ferry. Can you help about schedules and costs from Matnog for a Honda Jazz. 3. What tourists spots, hotels and rates are along the way? 4. How many days should I spend in Samar-Leyte to enjoy the spots before taking another ferry? Thank you. natsup

profile

1) Try RORO via Batangas-(Ferry)-Mindoro-(Ferry)-Caticlan-Iloilo-(Ferry)-Bacolod-Dumaguete-(Ferry)-Santander, Cebu-Cebu City. 2) Search the website of Philippine Ports authority for schedule of ferry trips. Or search for the ferry companies....

hehe, paka-winding and costly naman nyan suggestion ni Marc! yes for item 1 item 2, google them, i think many folks have posted those item 3 & 4, depends how far/deep you want to explore. in northern samar alone a 5 day tour is not necessarily enough. they have great beaches/islands esp these months of december until april (don't miss capul and biri islands and inland upriver sights to see like catubig). depends on what you want to see. calbayog city beckons too. so does catbalogan, calbiga, basey, marabut. Eastern Samar too is quite a trip! you have heard about calicoan, right?! and if you're into caving, this island of three provinces will keep you even more! the san juanico bridge will be a treat as you have no choice but to cross it. stop at the top. it shakes as vehicles pass. but never forget to take pics! on the island of leyte, its the same story - too many things to see. just google them! and what more if you include biliran. did you know that (aside from the longest San Juanico) the tallest bridge too is in Leyte? its on the southern part and just opened last august! oh yes, also near the infamous landslide town of St. Bernard! tip: google these places separately: Norther Samar (capital Catarman), Western Samar or just Samar (capital Catbalogan, Calbayog City is part of this province), Eastern Samar (capital Borongan), Leyte (capital Tacloban), Biliran (capital Naval) hmm, if you have no constraints, a month with the jazz would be just about fine! remember, samar alone is the 3rd largest island in this archipelago! your next roro will be from the island of leyte to cebu. but if i may reflect on your question/s... just to make it clear... whether you were considering the sights to see or the speed to reach cebu, this is the route to take! email me details of your trip and I can help you plan that grand trip with more details!

golly i think i even missed the province of southern leyte (capital Maasin) and that province is where the tallest bridge can be found. options to cross to cebu can either be from leyte or southern leyte

By PinoyTraveller: "..email me details of your trip and I can help you plan that grand trip with more details!" Why?! We want to read the trip as well for our future trips.

edwin, its the length... i am so talkative it will take kilometers of paragraphs :)

i have time and fond of reading! happy new year to you...!
