Day 2 : Gangtok to Lachen (120 kms./5 hrs./ Alt.- 8,500 ft.) :

After an early breakfast we will move to Lachen. Lachen means “Big Pass” .The major attractions of the mountain town are Shingbha wild life sanctuary, Chopta Valley and Thangu. The Sikkim Government promotes the place as a tourist destination. Check into a hotel, Welcome Tea and Overnight stay waits.

Typically any page about East Sikkim needs to begin off with Gangtok that is Sikkim's capital and without a doubt its the most impressive humming city. Nestled at 1650 m above sea level Gangtok has good nightlife, ample gaming experiences (it’s one of the few places in India where gambling is legalized).

The famous Rumtek Monastery is 24 km from Gangtok, while the Sikkim Tibetology Research Institute is very close to the town of Deorali in Gangtok. The Do DrulChorten and the Rustomji Deer Park are other notable attractions. The Changu Lake is 38 km away from Gangtok while the Nathula Pass is 54 km away. Another attraction is the beautiful Fambong La Sanctuary that’s 25 km away from town.

Day 3: Excursion Gurudongmar. Lachen to Lachung (50 km/ 2 hrs) :

Early morning drive to Lake Gurudongmar( 5225m/17143 ft) near the border with Tibet, one of the highest and largest freshwater lakes in Sikkim and back to Lachen for a late lunch. Check out Lachen and continue driving to Lachung.

Lachung is a quiet little villa on the banks of the Lachung River and is the best tourist place for those who really love nature. By the way the name Lachung means small pass. Lachung is famous for its fruit production like apples, peaches and apricots are found in abundance there.

Lachung means “Small Pass”. Lachung is another significant town of North Sikkim, the gateway to Yumthang. The valley is full of mists and forests of Rhododendron blooms. Reach Lachung and check in at the hotel and enjoy a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 4 : Excursion to Yumthang - Gangtok (24 km./Alt.11,800ft.) :

Yumthang popularly known as “Valley of Flowers”. The place crosses through the famous hot spring known for its curative properties of skin diseases. The flowering season is from late February and to mid June, when countless flowers bloom to carpet the valley in multicoloured hues of rainbow. After your visit is concluded, returns to your Lachung hotel for Lunch. After lunch you will be driven back to Gangtok. You will reach to your hotel in the evening. You can spend some time exploring and gathering experiences at the last minute. Return for your overnight rest.

Day 5 : Excursion – Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir :

Post breakfast drive for a memorable excursion tour to Tsomgo Lake. Situated at an altitude of around 17,490 ft, this is the highest lake in India and one of the highest lakes in the world. This beautiful oval shaped lake, nearly 1 km long with an average depth of 50 ft is located in the east of Sikkim Himalaya. From here we will drive again 15 km to Baba Mandir. Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple sentries and guards here believe his spirit is still alive and he is therefore treated like a living being. They all believe that Harbhajan will guard and protect them in this very difficult terrain. We can drive further to Nathula pass( 12,000 ft.) towards the Chinese border depending on the accessibility of the route. In the late afternoon, we will return to Gangtok. Day 6: Gangtok to NJP (114 km. / 4.30 hrs.) :

Best Time for a Darjeeling-Gangtok Tour

The best time is between April and June and September – November.

Places to visit from Gangtok

You can reach Pelling in about 4 and a half hours from Gangtok by cab.

• Kaluk – great for a day trip. Kaluk will offer you stunning views of Kanchenjunga, trekking and Yak rides near Teesta river.

2. Ravangla

Ravangla stands on a hilly ridge, bordered by lush greenery. Her expansive tea gardens, ancient monasteries and cascading waterfalls make this an interesting place to spend a couple of days. When in Ravangla , visit the Ralong and Doling monastery, enjoy the sunrise at Reyong View Point and visit the Temi Tea Gardens.

You can reach Ravangla in around 2 hours from Gangtok by cab.

Doling Gompa — an excellent spot for trekking. A premier tourist spot in Ravangla, this monastery is located on an elevated area with an excellent backdrop of mountains and lush greenery. For the trek, take the Barfung retreat through forests to reach the monastery.

Kewzing village — You can plan an overnight trip to Kewzing village, known to be a paradise for birdwatchers. Relish a night stay at the popular homestays here in the lap of nature.

4. Chungthang

A popular town in North Sikkim, the picturesque Chungthang lies at the confluence of river Lachung & Lachen. Considered to be blessed by saint Padmasambhava, Chungthang feels gifted with enviably rich biodiversity.

The preferred route to Chungthang is a taxi ride from Gangtok which takes around 3 hours 30 minutes.

We recommend 

Lachung and Lachen — The routes from Chungthang bifurcates towards two scenic spots, Lachung and Lachen. En route Lachung, you can stop at Naydo (bearing Guru Padmasambhava’s footprints) and Chungthang monastery. On arrival, stay overnight at Lachung, visit Yumthung Valley and Zero Point the next morning before returning to Gangtok in the evening.

Alternatively, if you wish to travel towards Lachen from Chungthang, stay overnight at Lachen, visit Gurudongmar Lake, KalaPatthar mountains and Yumthung Valley before departure.

Places to visit from Darjeeling

Explore the beauty of lesser-known Chalsa, at the foothills of Himalayas. This picturesque hamlet of West Bengal is a great place to unwind. It is home to the Gorumara National Park.

Day 1 : kolkata.

In the morning after reaching Kolkata, meet our representative at the airport. The representative would arrange a transfer to the hotel. Rest and relax for the day, after check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon, move out for a tour to Kolkata. The major tourist attraction to visit includes the Victoria Memorial Hall, Science City, Metro Rail, Memorial Hall, Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Mother Teresa Home, China Town, Rabindra Setu, and Vidyasagar Setu.
