Welcome to the 2022 StoneGable, Merry And Bright Christmas Home Tour! I’m so glad you are here!

I’m part of the Blogger’s Best Home Tours hosted by Kelly at The Tattered Pew . Kelly has worked tirelessly to put together this Christmas tour of 35+ bloggers’ Holiday homes going on all week long! Today you can visit 7 homes!

If you are coming from Cecilia’s at My Thrift Store Addiction … WELCOME! I’m sure you loved her Christmas home and the way she incorporated beautiful and thrifty items into her decor!

I’m so excited for you to look around our Christmas home and I hope when you leave you will have lots of ideas to use in your home this Holiday season!

Come on in the front door!

I think a wreath is a happy and hospitable way to welcome anyone who comes to our front door!

Most of the Christmas decor are things I already have. I like to challenge myself to use them in new and interesting ways.

But the wreath… it’s new! Cedar is a very popular green this year, and I am certainly on the cedar bandwagon! I opted not to use a bow on this wreath because it is gathered up at the top with twine. It’s a pretty and casual modern look.

christmas home tour youtube

This wreath is huge! So it can easily be seen from the road!

Come on into the foyer!

christmas home tour youtube

The heart of our foyer is this long white console table. And I packed it full of Christmas decor this year.

I’m not much of a collector but one thing I just can’t pass up are little trees! The console table holds some of my favorites plus a couple new additions.

You will see lots of little trees scattered throughout our Christmas home.

What do you collect?

One of the questions I get asked every year is how to decorate with what we collect. So this year I wrote a helpful post, DECORATING WITH CHRISTMAS COLLECTIONS . And it has been one of my popular posts so far this year.

In the post, you can see the big difference in how I decorated last year compared to this year.

christmas home tour youtube

Did you notice the white and silver reindeer art? I love reindeer. They are adorable! But this reindeer is so majestic I decided to prop him up in the foyer to greet you!

christmas home tour youtube

This year I took pictures with lots of lit candles! I took the photos over a three-day period and the last day was so dark and rainy. So I lit some of the candles and enjoyed the ambiance as I took pictures.

On the bottom shelf of the console, you will get a little clue about a color that plays a big part in our Christmas Home this year!

christmas home tour youtube

If you love a Christmas home that looks cohesive and has a designer flair then the most important thing you can do is choose a Christmas color palette!

I’ve wanted to use red in my Christmas home for several years but I seemed to default to greens and neutrals which I love.

I decided early that this was the year to add red! A color palette helped me to keep on track. This year’s colors were inspired by last year’s CHRISTMAS MASTER BEDROOM .

I wanted to use the same colors plus a touch of red.

Here is my Christmas color palette this year…

christmas home tour youtube

A color palette makes decorating so much easier. You can see a very helpful post, HOW TO CHOOSE A PERFECT CHRISTMAS COLOR PALETTE here .

I think knowing our color palette and the style and feel we want our Christmas homes to radiate gives us a huge head start and makes decorating so much easier and enjoyable.

Let’s walk down our long foyer and head toward the living room.

christmas home tour youtube

Let’s take a quick pause by the stairs.

christmas home tour youtube

The stairs look a whole lot different than they did last Christmas! This past summer we painted them and added a runner.

They were originally golden oak. Lots and lots of golden oak! Two stories worth of stairs!

The trouble with painting golden oak is the strong and noticeable grain in the wood. My husband and son worked together and found a quite easy fix for making the wood look much smoother! And they used a sprayer to paint the spindles. It was a big project but so worth it!

I’ll share how we transformed our stairs after the first of the year.

Garland on the stairs would be overkill so I opted for greens, ribbons, and vintage-looking Christmas balls.

I also used my favorite battery-operated candles on every other stair. They look so pretty in the evening!

THE LIVING ROOM

christmas home tour youtube

THE WHITE BUFFET

The white buffet is the first thing you notice in the living room. And the little upholstered stools too.

I found them earlier this fall and could not resist! I put one on either side of the buffet. I’m a big fan of symmetry! You can see these well-made stools HERE . They come in several colors.

On top of each stool, I added buffalo check pillows and little frosted wreaths (see them HERE ). The wreaths also hang in every window in our home.

I added a bit of red to this end of the living room with the red plaid gifts. I like this wrapping paper because the pattern looks light and airy for a plaid.

christmas home tour youtube

On top of the present is my favorite Christmas bow. Here is a post about CHRISTMAS RIBBONS AND BOWS with a little video about how to make these fluffy bows.

On the buffet are a few more Christmas trees from my collection.

christmas home tour youtube

Some of my trees, like the little one above, are decades old.

In the center of the buffet, I put together an easy arrangement in a hammered brass bowl.

christmas home tour youtube

Arrangements and vignettes are the backbone of my Holiday decor. They are easy to make and can be styled in so many ways!

HOW TO CREATE A HOLIDAY VIGNETTE STEP-BY-STEP will give you lots of ideas for making pretty Christmas arrangements too. And a peek at our Christmas sunroom.

The mantel this year has an asymmetrical garland.

christmas home tour youtube

The lit garland was hung using four 3M hooks. Lots of bits and pieces of greens were added to this garland to make it look lush.

I repeated the crisp brown and white ribbon that is also on the tree and on the newel post of the stairs.

I cut the ribbon about 5 feet long to keep making the loops manageable. And then I cut the ends of the ribbon into a classic French V’s.

On a last-minute whim, I added red wooden beads to the garland too!

christmas home tour youtube

I hung tree stockings at the short garland end of the mantel along with a few vintage Christmas ornaments.

Can you tell which stockings is mine?

christmas home tour youtube

I kept the brown and white pillow on the spindle chair from the fall. I love these pretty little pillows and they worked with my Christmas color palette.

christmas home tour youtube

THE COFFEE TABLE

In the middle-ish of the living room is the upholstered coffee table. This year I used a pretty glass mirror as a tray and added some of the smaller trees I collect that light up.

christmas home tour youtube

And I added a bit of seeded eucalyptus.

christmas home tour youtube

Seeded eucalyptus is much airier and lighter than greens. It lets the reflective beauty and light of the mirror show through.

christmas home tour youtube

THE CURLACUE CHEST

The Curlacue chest holds a white porcelain Holy Family.

christmas home tour youtube

Behind the little Nativity, I propped a light silhouette picture of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the star.

christmas home tour youtube

THE CHRISTMAS TREE

This year, like last year, I used our heavily flocked Christmas tree.

christmas home tour youtube

I decorated it with mostly white, brown, bronze, and neutral ornaments and ribbons. And I used just a little bit of red too!

christmas home tour youtube

I like a tree that is full of things to look at! Ornaments, ribbons, ornaments, berries, and big stems of something pretty!

This is the first year I used a tree collar. It was white so I spray painted it an antique bronze to work with my colors. I’m now a fan! What do you think? Do you like a tree collar or skirt?

christmas home tour youtube

I started to wrap some of our gifts to coordinate with our Christmas tree!

christmas home tour youtube

Our six little grandchildren (6 and under) could not stop touching the tree! They especially LOVED jingling the jingle bells. And that made it snow all over the floor and they loved that too! And so did I!

christmas home tour youtube

I saw the wonder and magic of a Christmas tree through their eyes! Christmas is just so special with grandkids!

Now let’s head to the dining area…

THE DINING AREA

The dining area is on the backside of the Christmas tree! So when we are eating we can see the entire tree from the other side!

christmas home tour youtube

I got a new rug for this area. It came yesterday. I took advantage of the early Black Friday sales. I always get indoor/outdoor type rugs in our dining room. They are so much easier to clean up. You can see the new rug HERE .

This Christmas season I kept the decor rather simple.

christmas home tour youtube

But simple can be so pretty! I put greens down the center of our table and looped the same brown and white ribbon through them.

christmas home tour youtube

And then I added this beautiful Capiz leaf garland (see it HERE on sale now).

christmas home tour youtube

A shallow-footed bowl in the center of the table holds seven, ruby red pomegranates.

christmas home tour youtube

Well, friends, I have so much more to share with you like our Christmas kitchen…

christmas home tour youtube

And our sunroom…

christmas home tour youtube

And a couple bedrooms and more!

Just beautiful as always! I really love the brown and white ribbon throughout your displays. But I must say, my favorite were the arrangements on your stair posts. Love the sheer and striped ribbon together! So pretty! They deserve a diy post just by themselves. Wishing you a peaceful Christmas and good health. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing it with us!!

Hi Diana, thank you! Right now I have a horrid cold from the grandbabies, so I need a bit of good health! Merry Christmas!

I love your wreath at the front dorr. Did you create it by yourself?

And of course I love your whole decor in the house, too. : – )

Beautiful, as usual. How fortunate that Hobbes allows you to decorate the mantle- my Annie would bring it down faster than I could put it up.

Thanks, Emily! Merry Christmas.

I just love, love following your blog and all the creative ideas, how to and recipes you share. Your Christmas home tour is gorgeous and I have garnered many ideas. Would you please share how you attached the beautiful greens together, or did you use a teardrop swag on your newel post. My stair banister certainly would be an overkill but the greens would be perfect. I certainly could use any tips you would share. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

I used a small cedar garland and folded it in half. I tied it to the bow and then tied the garland to the newel post. I hope this helps. So glad you enjoyed the tour. Merry Christmas, Beverly!

Amazing!!! I love the white and silver deer art on your foyer table. Is that something that is still available?

Hi Cassie, Merry Christmas! The deer art is from a local shop.

Yvonne, everything beautifully elegant as always. In love with the white and silver reindeer art and would love the link to purchase. Have a great holiday season. Helen

Hi Helen, that reindeer is very popular! I found it at a local shop and I don’t have a source. Sorry.

I love your blog and forward to reading each week. Where did you get the baskets on the bottom of your console table and on the Carolina Room near the tree??? Also love the brown color lumbar like Fall pillow, where did you find that one?? So appreciate the links in the Christmas ? articles.

I found it locally, Sorry Sabrina. The lumbar pillows were from Amazon and are not in stock. Things right now are flying off the shelves. So sorry.

Yvonne, your home looks beautiful for the holiday season.

Hi Yvonne! I love your pops of red and your tree is stunning–pinned! You’ve created such a welcoming, festive entry. Wishing you a joyous Christmas season. Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

Cecilia, So sweet! Merry Christmas

I just love your elegant Christmas decor ! Where did you get that beautiful round wicker tray under your coffe table I have the same kind of ottoman and was looking for something exactly like that and also what size is it .

I found the basket tray at Wayfair. However, I don’t see it there anymore. Look on Wayfair, they have others you might like, Debbie.

Yvonne, your Christmas decor this year is spot on! It is so perfect, you have inspired me to use red next year.Bless you for sharing your beautiful decor with your followers. Have a wonderful Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

How sweet, Susan! I was surprised at how much I love red in our home.

Really beautiful! Love the color scheme and the nativity vignette is perfection!

Your home is so lovely. Such gorgeous details. So fun hopping with you this week. I adore your mantle decor.

Thank you, Renae.

Your home looks so cozy and inviting for the holidays, Yvonne. I love every detail. Christmas perfection! Happy to be hopping with you this week. Pinned!

Thanks, Jen! Merry Christmas.

Yvonne! Your home is definitely Merry and Bright! You have been blessed with the gift of decorating and curating a beautiful home and it blesses so many besides just your family! Thank you for sharing your home with us and the special touches and memories. I could just hear your grandkids laughing touching the tree and bells! Merry Christmas my friend and thanks for joining the tour!

Oh, Kelly! How sweet! I’m so thrilled to be part of your tour! Beautiful homes, beautiful women.

It’s all beautiful! I especially love the deer picture in your foyer. Like you, I’m not a collector but I do collect trees and deer for my Christmas vignettes. I use those little battery operated mini lights too. They are set to come on a 4:00 and off at 10:00. They lend that magical touch. My colour palette is mostly white with touches of gold and very small additions of red. Looking forward to the rest of your home tour.

Sounds so beautiful!

Beautiful as always!!!

Thank you, Andrea! I loved sharing our home with you!

Loved your tour! It’s always gorgeous!! Thanks so much for all the ideas!

Can you tell me where you found the framed quote “The Lord bless you and keep you”.

Here you go Kay: https://rstyle.me/+asiVZJz4zFnvERel1fh6dg

SOOOOO clean, light, bright and merry – Love everything Yvonne!! Would you mind sharing the source for the beautiful white footed bowl which is holding the pomegranates? LOVE it! Christmas blessings!

Yvonne, your home looks Christmas Beautiful! I love everything about it. I can’t wait to see your post in January about your stair redo. Merry Christmas!

Absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Wow! Your home looks gorgeous for the holiday season. Everything is so elegant and pretty! Love that tree! Pinned.

Thanks, AnnMarie

Your home looks beautiful for the holiday season!

Thanks Kim! Merry Christmas.

Okay… next year, for sure, I want to come at Christmas time! Tanglewood looks amazing, as always. I have to agree, the last minute decision to use the red beads on the mantel was a GREAT idea! And I thought I had a lot of ornaments on my tree! I have to go get my bins out of storage to fill all the ‘holes’ in my tree now! 😉 Can’t wait to see the kitchen and the sunroom… and the bedrooms, as well! LOVE those prints at the end of the counter! Love you, and always love working with you!

Yes, come at Christmastime next year! Lancaster has so much to do!

Merry and bright indeed Yvonne! The red is a big hit this year and I think you found the perfect balance. Everything is lovely and inviting as always. I love the mirror that you used as a tray on the ottoman. I want to try something like that on our round ottoman. Thank you for the inspiration! Happy Christmas!

Thank you Michelle! Merry Christmas!

Very beautiful and unique this yezr.. Some great deas gleamed. Thank you. I did try the link “Making A Bow” for wreath making but got a 404 error..page no longer exists. Hope you can fix that. Thank you

Sorry about that Susan, here you go: https://www.stonegableblog.com/christmas-ribbon-and-bows/

Stunning simplicity. Cozy yet elegant. Perfection! Thanks for sharing ?. I’m in love with the sunroom rug. Did you have it in your other home – do you have a source for it?

Hi! I love that added some color in your rooms. It really refresh’s the decor. Thanks for the tour. I’ll be back to view more?

I think so too! I’m just thinking about what color I can use for winter.

I loved the tour! Where did you find the three Santa-reindeer prints hanging on the wall at the end of your counter?

Hi Cheryl, they are a digital image that I had printed. See them here: https://rstyle.me/+KF99q9LEvHaISec3m95k6w

Beautiful tour, Yvonne! Love how your tree sits between the living and dining area so you can enjoy it all around.

Thanks, Lora. The tree can be seen from almost all of our downstairs rooms.

I love your touch of red throughout and the way you looped the ribbon in your garland! All beautiful!

I noticed you don’t show that beautiful mango bookshelf from this past spring or summer. I am in love with that. Would you be willing to share where you purchased it? I live about an hour away from your area and would love to drive down to the store and shop.

Hi Linda, I loved that bookshelf too. But it was really too big for the foyer so I gave it to a sweet young family. I found it at The Treasure Place in Intercourse. Hope this helps.

Wow Yvonne! Your home looks so beautiful! I adore that mirror! It’s incredible! Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas, Stacy!

Yvonne, Your home looks lovely this Christmas season!! The plaid pillows and touches of red are just the right touch of elegance and added interest. Lovely!!! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see the bedrooms! How do you keep your cat from creating mayhem with your Christmas tree? I heard cats are famous /infamous for climbing into trees. Nancee

Our cat, for some strange reason, has never touched the tree. Fingers crossed that he won’t this year.

I can’t tell you how much you inspire me with your home tours, Yvonne. Every detail is so beautiful from the little trees displayed throughout your gorgeous house to the bowl of pomegranates on the table. I am amazed by your talent when it comes to holiday ribbons. Both your Christmas tree and mantel are just stunning. Happy holidays!

You are just the sweetest, Kim! I feel the same way when I come to visit your home too! Merry Christmas!

You always so do Christmas so beautifully! I love all the pretty touches (especially that reindeer), Merry Christmas to you and your family. xx

Your holiday home is absolutely stunning, Yvonne! I love how elegant, yet cozy and inviting your home is! Your creativity and talent is such an inspiration. I am so happy to be touring with you. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

I’ve always looked forward to your Christmas tours every year, and this one is just as stunning as ever, Yvonne! I LOVE your small touches of red this year. And I’m pinning that mantel garland for sure. It’s gorgeous. Have a very Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas, Kate!

Hi Yvonne, I just was curious how you fit the tree in a “ collar “. Would that work with a real tree? It looks like a big planter. Looks lovely! Marianne

Hi Marianne, what a great question. The tree color comes in four parts. They click together with a magnet. You would have to know the measurements of your tree stand and then make sure it fits a collar. This is the first year we used a tree collar and won’t go back! Merry Christmas, Marianne.

Lovely house. So warm and inviting. May I ask where you bought the buffet? Thanks.

Hi Carol, I found it at Wayfair. Sorry, they don’t carry it any longer.

Yvonne, your home is beautifully decorated for the holiday season! Where did you get the silhouette in the frame behind the holy family. I love the idea! Merry Christmas!!

Hi Leslie, I found it here: https://rstyle.me/+jK-zgkNyH3UaY7J3wHhdYg

Your home is so lively, warm and inviting. I love all the white! Hoping you feel better soon so your holiday season is magical. Merry Christmas.

Thanks, Cindy!

Hello, I don’t leave replies often, but I had to reply this time. Your home is absolutely beautiful in all its Christmas decor! You did an amazingly festive job! Love it! Your tree is exquisite, and I like the idea that you used it again this year. All rooms shown are beautiful, and I am looking forward to viewing part two. Merry Christmas!

Thanks so much, Sandi. Merry Christmas.

Yvonne, I have been admiring your beautiful flocked tree for years. We decided to invest in fake tree this year and I’m wondering where you got yours. Would you mind passing on that to me?

Hi Cindy, We love our tree. It’s on the slim side and fits nicely in our living room. Here is is: https://rstyle.me/+8G6EEAomLrRLD18-5Scouw

Wow! There’s so much to love! I am definitely taking some ideas with me: The simple White Mary, Joseph and Jesus figurines with the picture of Bethlehem in the background, and just the perfect votives on each side to give it importance; the white bowl in the kitchen with pomegranates; your kitchen curtains, the understated beauty of your decorating. It’s all so beautiful! Thank you for the tour. I loved it very much.

Sweet Mary, thank you so much! Merry Christmas.

Stunning home tour, I love your style, everything about your decor speaks to my love of classic design.xx

Thank you so much, Janette! Merry Christmas.

Thank you for sharing your Beautiful home! You are so blessed with talent, I’m always in awe.

Merry Christmas. Rose.

Christmas Past Home Tour Edition – Christmas Year’s Reviewed

Over the past 3 years, mom and I have shared over 20 Christmas home tours on our blog and YouTube channel between our own homes and friends’ homes. We thought it would be fun to go through the tours to share our favorite inspiration for you to apply to your own home this season. We’re going to go through each of these very fast, but we’ll link to the full tour of all of these if you want to dig deeper into the inspiration! What I love about all these homes is they’re completely different but have inspiration that can overlap and be put together beautifully.

THREE YEARS OF MOM’S HOME

First, let’s talk about mom’s home over the past 4 years and compare. We’ve changed it up every year. The first year we did red, then in 2019 we did blue, 2020 repeated the blue with a little twist and then this year we went cozy and neutral. Mom usually decides her theme or colors from an inspiration photo she’s seen on Pinterest or Instagram. One idea usually sparks a vision for Christmas throughout!

christmas home tour youtube

2018 was the first year in the Touch Gold house. We used pops of bright red everywhere. The mantel had vintage red books and the couches had fun red pillows. Christmas was done on a budget since the home needed a full renovation. But it was merry and bright and we loved the simplicity of it all!

christmas home tour youtube

In 2019 we decided to do an ornament swap. The red ornaments and accessories went to my 1960’s ranch and mom’s home took on a refresh with navy ornaments. Again, the home was in process so we kept it pretty simple. Our main foundation for decorating throughout the seasons is to bring nature in, florals and greenery through spring and summer, evergreen and pinecones through fall and winter. The great thing about the home on Touch Gold is it backs up to a nature preserve filled with evergreen and cypress trees so fresh greenery is in abundance every year!

christmas home tour youtube

In 2020 we mixed the blue with opaque ornaments. We added quite a bit of gold. And of course fresh and faux garlands everywhere! The beauty of the nature-inspired Christmas is it’s ok to put it up early in October and leave up through January and it doesn’t grow old.

christmas home tour youtube

2021 was a new theme entirely. We call this cozy cabin feel Christmas. We found an inspiration photo from Pinterest that used a vintage deer mount with an oversized garland for the mantle. That sparked the rest of the design. We thrifted some vintage snowshoes and kept the overall color cozy neutrals. This might be our favorite year in Touch Gold yet!

christmas home tour youtube

Let’s talk about Amber of @theValeHouse . We toured her Christmas home last year. She also has a cozy cabin vibe with her deer, so I thought it’d be a good idea to kick it off with her since that flows with what we did this year. When I was browsing through inspiration one thing that I was inspired by was her kitchen and how she put letters that spelled out NOEL on the back of her bar stools. They look so great with her kitchen pendants that I’m CRAZY about!

christmas home tour youtube

VINTAGE HOME DESIGNS

The next Christmas design I want to talk about is our friend Michele of @VintageHomeDesigns . This one is for vintage lovers. She has a touch of french country but her unique style is that she is 100% neutral. Even her trees are cream! It’s her signature style. You’ll see splashes of green stems from nature but the foundation is completely neutral. One thing I loved was the greenery on her staircase. She didn’t make a garland but simply put individual stems on the railing. I thought this was so clever and stunning.

christmas home tour youtube

BLOOMING IVY LANE

We’ve done 2 Christmas tours of @BloomingIvyLane ! Stephanie and her family have recently sold the home but we are confident their new home will be amazing! We love the charm of Stephanie’s Christmas. The secret is her love for estate sales. We can actually thank Stephanie for sharing this love with us! We are always surprised at the way Stephanie brings Christmas into every space. Even the garden boxes outside were transformed into a tiny Christmas tree farm. The outdoor spaces are transformed with farm tables and Christmas trees everywhere. Inside and out you are inspired by the welcoming, warm, even playful design. We can’t wait to see Stephanie’s new home when it’s complete!

christmas home tour youtube

@MYLITTLEWHITEBARN_

The next Christmas I’m sharing is our friend Shannon of @mylittlewhitebarn_ . Her Christmas is collected. You’ll find fun little vignettes throughout. There is a collection of vintage mirrors, gingerbread houses, nutcrackers, and beautiful Christmas red plates! A collected Christmas comes easy for Shannon because she loves to treasure hunt! Shannon has a way of putting things together and we love touring Shannons, especially at Christmastime!

christmas home tour youtube

AMIK HOMESTEAD

We’ve gone to Monika’s home every Christmas since 2017. This is the quintessential Christmas home! It perfectly represents everything we love about Christmas! Not only is the home’s exterior the perfect shade of red, but the family has a Christmas tradition of dinner in the stables every year. There is thoughtful attention to every detail and too many details to mention here. You can actually enter the home through the stables and immediately your eyes are drawn up to the Christmas tree which hangs from the ceiling throughout the entire year! Every year there is a gingerbread replica of the home on the bar. And no one is left out because even the chicken coup gets a Christmas makeover! The warmth of the home and Monika’s love for hosting brings us back every Christmas!

christmas home tour youtube

I hope you enjoyed our Christmas Home Tour inspiration round up! This is our favorite time of year to visit other’s homes and admire their creativity and hospitality. I’d love to hear in the comments what inspiration you love.

Christmas Home Tour – Part 1

Thanks for sharing!

Christmas home tour with English and French country accents for a casual, elegant look with a bit of vintage, antique and thrifty decor.

Welcome to our Christmas home!

I'm quite excited to share Part 1 of my tour with you today.

I rarely share my husband's study in great detail because it's an actual working home office and never straightened up enough to shoot.

I gave it a good cleaning and moved all of the work stacks (piles of paper) to the floor in the family room. I promised that I'd put them right back in their organized chaos after I took photos.

You'll also be getting a look into our dining room which I totally love these days.

Before we get started, I'd love to thank Marty from A Stroll Thru Life for organizing this beautiful tour for us.

If you are stopping by from Citrine Living , welcome! Tamara has a gorgeous home. I love all of her blue and white!

Let's start with the study

christmas home tour youtube

You will find SHOP THE LOOK sliders throughout the post to shop for exact and similar items.  You can also visit my AMAZON SHOP   for favorite finds for the home, garden, fashion, beauty, and more!

Bentley would like to welcome you to our home! If a fireplace is on, he'll be there.

If you've visited my Christmas home tours before, you'll know that Bentley is quite the model by choice. I kid you not when the tripod and camera come out….he is there and ready.

Sometimes I get him to pose, but most times he's curled up sleeping in the shot.

christmas wood paneled study

When you come in the front door, you walk into an open foyer with the study on one side and the dining room on the other.

We built our home in 2004. It is The Abberley Lane house plan by John Tee for Southern Living.

We loved that the house has 3 fireplaces. The ones in the study and master are gas. The family room is wood burning.

I decorated it very simply this year as I always do. I pretty much just do greenery on the mantel with lights and call it a day.

This is the first year with the curtain lights . I put them up in the dining room last year. Since the windows on the front are symmetrical, I added them here this year. They are really fun and magical for the holidays. They come with a remote and have varying functions from static, blinking, and more. You can see last year's Christmas Tour HERE .

Shop the Look

Furniture wise, this room hasn't changed a beat since we moved in. The rug is an antique kilim that we bought specifically for this room. We've always loved rug shopping together.

It's got such a classic English Country style that just works for us.

I do change things up with pillows and small decor items.

We do plan to start looking for a new desk and chair. My husband needs a bit more space to work on to keep him from spreading it all out on the kitchen table. LOL!

The 2 wing back chairs were a bright canary yellow that I bought used from an ad in the paper 20 years ago. We had them reupholstered when we moved here. I'd like to lighten then up at some point, but for now just changing the pillows does the trick.

There's my traveling blue and white garden stool. It's been on the porches, in the family room, in our bedroom and now in here. I found a few similar ones that are at a good price. You'll find them in the shop the look section.

The Christmas tree peeking through is in the foyer. It's a great spot for the 2 rooms to share the view. It's featuring blue and green ribbon to tie the 2 rooms together.

I just did a Facebook Live this week with more details on this room. It's part of my 15 Christmas Tips Video Series.

I bought that whimsical tree pillow about 15 years ago at the Atlanta Gift Mart. It's still a favorite.

The pair of Staffordshire dogs work well with the hand-painted tiles from a local artist. This fireplace screen was a perfect fit to not obstruct the painted hunt tile scene.

Let's stroll through the foyer to the dining room!

While our daughter, Ashlyn, was home from college at Clemson (since March) that antique armoire was her job. She did an amazing job stripping and sanding all the layers of paint. You can see the progress on my Instagram Highlights.

I'm still not finished with it. I've got a few areas of new wood to stain very lightly. I really like the natural look with a bit of chippy paint still in it. I think that I'm just going to wax with clear wax then test out some white wax on the sides to see how it looks. I really like the raw wood look.

I picked up 2 faux evergreen and eucalyptus wreaths at Hobby Lobby for the doors. I hung them with a cream ribbon using Command Hooks on the backside of the doors.

This basket is one of my favorite thrift store makeovers . It's perfect for centerpieces so that I can easily remove it from the table. I've been using this area as a gift wrap station and a work desk at times.

These place cards were made with reindeer ornaments from Big Lots. You can watch the Facebook video in my series on how they were created.

This thrift store mirror makeover was one of those projects where you start layering paint and love the outcome!

See that gorgeous disco ball? That was actually on a toy motorized disco ball that my daughter would play with. She'd crank it up with her musical instruments and her friends would have a blast. It quit working. I removed the disco ball off before throwing the motor away.

Casual elegance is definitely the theme in here. This runner from Target was the inspiration for the mainly green and neutral look. The napkins from Marshalls and old Southern Living at Home chargers give the look a splash of red.

This is the first year that we have ever put a live tree in the dining room. I'm not sure it will happen again, but the tree farm that we go to in NC was going out of business. It's so sad. We will miss going there each year, selecting a tree and cutting it down. Their prices have always been amazing.

Since they were closing up, ALL trees were only $20 no matter the size so we got 2. None were manicured. You just found one and they cut it for you. This one was rather scraggly, but that is exactly what I wanted in here. It is actually now my favorite tree in the house. I just simply strung string lights.

Trees seem so much smaller in the field. The ceilings in here are 10 feet and we ended up cutting some off the trunk to bring it down a bit.

I can't wait to share our main live tree with you in Part 2 of our tour. That tree is a funny story. IT IS MASSIVE! We didn't think it was until we got it home. It's over 12 feet tall and took up the entire width of the double French door in the den. I went from being in awe, to oh, no….what were we thinking, to disappointment, to being optimistic to absolutely in love with it! I'll be sharing it next week so be sure to subscribe to my newsletter so you'll get a notification. You'll find the form at the end of the post.

Hi there, wondering if you know what brand of fabric the striped wingback is upholstered in in the study? Love it. Thanks!

Thanks so much! I wish that I could help you with the fabric. I bought those chairs used about 25 years ago and they were bright canary yellow. I had them upholstered about 20 years ago and don’t recall the brand. They’ve been classic for us in this room.

It’s all absolutely gorgeous! I love the study and the way you decorated the dining room too! I can’t wait to see the giant tree too.

Enjoy your cozy Christmas home. Merry Christmas!

Your home is stunning! There are so many beautiful pieces and fabrics, throughout. It is definitely Christmas ready!

Beautiful tour! I love the curtain lights…they’re a great addition. The armoire turned out out great!

Those whimiscal curtain lights are going to start something! they look so pretty and your study is just stunning. How funny about Bentley being such a ham for the camera. Beautiful home. I know your family will enjoy it immensely this holiday season. PS- the ‘beast’ looks amazing in your Dining Room.

Christy, just when I couldn’t love your home any more, you show us the study and OMG I had to scroll back and forth about ten times to take it all in! Looove it!! All the work your daughter put onto the armoire is paying off, it’s such a stunning piece! Happy to be home touring with you. Merry Christmas!

It’s so nice to see your husband’s study for the first time! How nice it must be to work with a fire crackling nearby. I do have to say that your dining room is my favorite this year–that photo with the chandelier in front of the armoire is just perfect. Happy (early) Christmas to you!

I love your home. So beautifully decorated and just my taste. I absolutely love your oriental rugs. They are beauties and I keep looking at the one in the foyer at just how pretty it is. I always enjoy seeing your beautiful home.

Christy, your home is simply stunning! I am in love with your husband’s office ( we have the same hunt scene artwork that sits above your mantel lol!). Would you PLEASE share which company supplied the judges paneling in that room. We had it in our historic home, and I’d love to add it to the home we now have but can’t find a mill here that supplies it. Would so appreciate any help. Wishing y’all a lovely Christmas and a far better 2021.

Thanks so much! It was done by a local cabinet shop. You should be able to share a photo with either a skilled cabinet or trim carpenter. It is all pine and stained. If you need, I am happy to send you some up-close details for reference. Just give me your email address. (sorry for the late reply. I just discovered this comment in the spam folder.)

Christie, your home is so exquisite – I feel like I’m in Traditional Home magazine perusing through this post. I’m in awe of everything! And so many beautiful Christmas details of course! Merry Christmas!

What can I say, stunning. I love your Study. I don’t think I have seen that space before. The woodwork is amazing and the fireplace is gorgeous. Your dining room is a favorite and that armoire totally this room. What a fabulous piece. I also really love your chandelier, it is such a beauty. Your home truly creates such warm and welcoming Southern Charm. Thanks so much for joining the tour again this year, I love seeing how you decorate each season.

Oh Christy! This is just stunning! I love all of the warm woods in your home with the twinlky lights- feels so cozy!!! Perfect Christmas vibes!!!

What a beautiful home you have and such lovely, tasteful decorations. I love that you thrifted so many things or bought them at “normal” stores! Showing readers how they can decorate without having to spend tons of money is appreciated. The stripped armoire looks so good! We lived in Germany and used to go to a monthly antique auction. It reminds me of pieces we saw there. Thank you for sharing your lovely home and decorations. Merry Christmas.

I love hearing from you! Cancel reply
