So, let’s delve into the different parking options and explore the best ways to park at Cape Liberty Cruise Port.

Parking Options at Cape Liberty Cruise Port

When it comes to parking at Cape Liberty Cruise Port, there are two main options: on-site parking and off-site parking. Each option offers its own advantages and considerations, allowing you to choose the one that suits your needs best.

On-site Parking: Cape Liberty Cruise Port offers convenient on-site parking for cruise passengers. This means you can park your vehicle directly at the port, just steps away from the terminal. On-site parking provides the convenience of easy access to your vehicle throughout your cruise, giving you peace of mind knowing that your car is nearby.

One of the significant benefits of on-site parking is the security it offers. The port’s parking facilities are well-maintained and equipped with surveillance cameras, ensuring the safety of your vehicle. Additionally, on-site parking is a preferred choice for passengers with heavy luggage or those who prefer not to rely on shuttle services.

Off-site Parking: If you’re looking for alternative parking options or want to save some money, off-site parking near Cape Liberty Cruise Port is a viable choice. Off-site parking lots are located a short distance away from the port and offer shuttle services to transport you and your luggage to and from the terminal.

Off-site parking can often be more cost-effective compared to on-site parking, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers. These parking facilities are generally safe and secure, providing 24/7 surveillance to ensure the protection of your vehicle.

Moreover, off-site parking lots often offer additional services such as car detailing, oil changes, and tire rotations. So, you can take advantage of these extra perks while you’re away enjoying your cruise.

When choosing between on-site and off-site parking, consider factors such as budget, convenience, and flexibility. On-site parking offers immediate access to the ship, while off-site parking provides cost savings and additional services. Ultimately, the choice depends on your individual needs and preferences.

On-site Parking

On-site parking at Cape Liberty Cruise Port provides a convenient option for passengers who prefer to park their vehicles directly at the port. Here are some key details about on-site parking:

  • Proximity: With on-site parking, you can park your vehicle just steps away from the cruise terminal. This eliminates the need for additional transportation to reach the ship, allowing for a seamless embarkation process.
  • Security: Cape Liberty Cruise Port takes security seriously, and their on-site parking facilities are well-maintained and equipped with surveillance cameras. This provides peace of mind, knowing that your vehicle is in a secure environment while you enjoy your cruise.
  • Convenience: On-site parking offers the convenience of having your vehicle nearby throughout your cruise. If you need to access any items or make changes to your belongings, you can easily reach your car without relying on shuttle services or off-site parking.
  • Reservation Options: To ensure a hassle-free parking experience, it is recommended to make a reservation for on-site parking in advance. This guarantees a spot and saves you from the stress of finding parking on the day of departure.
  • Pricing: The cost of on-site parking at Cape Liberty Cruise Port may vary depending on the duration of your cruise. It is advisable to check the official website or contact the port directly for the most up-to-date pricing information.

On-site parking can be an excellent choice for passengers who prefer the convenience and easy accessibility of having their vehicles nearby. It is particularly ideal for those with heavy luggage, families traveling with young children, or individuals who value the peace of mind that comes with knowing their vehicle is secure within the port premises.

If you choose on-site parking, be sure to arrive early to allow for sufficient time to park your vehicle and complete the necessary check-in procedures. Consider the parking availability during peak travel seasons and plan accordingly to ensure a smooth parking experience.

  • Cost Savings: Off-site parking can often be more affordable compared to on-site parking. By parking off-site, you can save money while still enjoying a secure and reliable parking solution for the duration of your cruise.
  • Additional Services: Some off-site parking facilities may offer additional services such as car detailing, oil changes, and valet service. These added perks allow you to take care of your vehicle’s maintenance needs while you’re away, saving you time and effort when you return from your cruise.
  • Security: While off-site parking facilities may not be located within the port premises, they still prioritize the security of your vehicle. Many lots have security measures in place, such as surveillance cameras and personnel, to ensure the safety of parked vehicles.

When choosing an off-site parking option, it is advisable to research and compare different facilities in the area. Consider factors such as proximity to the port, shuttle service frequency, customer reviews, and pricing to make an informed decision.

Booking your off-site parking in advance is recommended to secure a spot and ensure availability, especially during peak cruise seasons when parking demand is high. Check the websites of the parking facilities or contact them directly to make your reservation and receive any specific instructions or details.

Overall, off-site parking provides a great alternative for passengers looking to save on parking costs while still enjoying convenience and peace of mind. Take advantage of these dedicated parking facilities and their shuttle services to park your vehicle securely and start your cruise with ease.

Everything You Need To Know About Parking at Cape Liberty Cruise Port

Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, is very much a drive-up cruise port where many guests park their vehicles on site in a secure lot while they cruise. Here you’ll find a step-by-step process for everything you need to know to park your car and get on with your cruise vacation!

Parking at Cape Liberty Cruise Port – The Basics

Cape Liberty Cruise Port guarantees parking so there’s no urgency or rush to get in. In fact, there’s likely a cruise arriving with guests that need to depart before you can access the parking lot. You should base your arrival time on your cruise check-in time, factoring in an extra 20-30 minutes to unload luggage and park.

In terms of navigating, I plugged “Cape Liberty Cruise Port” into my phone map and GPS got us there without issue. However, if you need an actual address, use 4 Port Terminal Blvd, Bayonne, NJ 07002. You can visit their official website here .

How much is parking at Cape Liberty/Bayonne cruise terminal?

You cannot make, nor do you need, a reservation. They have parking spots of varying sizes and will direct vehicles accordingly. It is a paid parking lot with fees based on the size of your vehicle:

  • $30/day – Standard size car and SUV (currently $210 for a 7-day cruise)
  • $60/day – RV’s and Minibus (currently $420 for a 7-day cruise)
  • $90/day – Busses (currently $630 for a 7-day cruise)

These prices include tax.

Arriving at Cape Liberty Cruise Port

Here’s a map of how the flow of traffic works:

liberty cruise parking

Where I live in Canada, we have toll roads, but this was the first time I experienced a toll ticket while taking the highway into the port. Without a toll transponder, one would expect to follow a “cash” lane at the toll booth for paid highways. That’s not how this works. Instead, you need to get in the “ticket” lane and grab an automated ticket from the machine. It’ll look like this:

liberty cruise parking

Take that ticket with you until you’re ready to exit the toll road. That’s when you’ll be asked to pay. I can only assume that the amount of the toll varies based on how far you’ve travelled, which is indicated on the ticket. Coming from the Spring Valley area of New York, this particular toll was $7.50.

When you exit the toll road, the cruise port signage will be obvious:

liberty cruise parking

You’ll also see the ship waiting for you! The area does have an abandoned business park vibe so don’t panic if that’s what you’re seeing. As you approach the port, there will be employees with yellow safety vests directing traffic. They’ll direct you to a luggage drop off (see orange trolleys in graphic below) where there are porters waiting to take your checked luggage.

Don’t forget to keep a separate carry-on with necessities (and swim wear if you’re heading to the pool) since your checked luggage will not be available until later in the afternoon.

liberty cruise parking

The porters will tell you exactly how to park but it seems like organized chaos. Some cars are parked straight, others are on the diagonal. Others seem trapped. They’ll help you get your luggage out of your car and will put it on their luggage racks. Ensure you have your cruise luggage tags attached and if not, ask the porters for help – they usually have blank tags if needed.

Don’t forget to tip your porter. The amount is up to your discretion – I’ve heard rates from $1/bag to $5/bag, to a flat rate of $20. I usually go in with a plan of tipping $3/bag. The last few times, we’ve checked three bags, so we’ve tipped a $10 bill to make things easy.

Once you’ve dropped off your bags, you’ll continue to follow the flow of traffic and the people in the yellow vests. Each time we’ve been there, the parking garage has been full and cars have been directed to the outdoor parking lot. The signage to the parking lot isn’t overly clear as you make your way through what look like abandoned buildings:

liberty cruise parking

This sign should say “Overflow parking lot AND exit” (and it’s not just “overflow”; follow these signs for all outdoor parking). Keep following the signs for parking until you see the ticket booth where staff will hand you a parking ticket. They’ll also direct you to a parking spot and help you park to maximize space. The regular lot is only a couple of minutes from the ship itself.

Here’s where our car was parked – it was about a 2-minute walk to the cruise terminal.

liberty cruise parking

Don’t forget to take your parking ticket with you as you will pay for parking at a machine after the cruise before returning to your vehicle.

There are overflow lots that are accessible via a shuttle bus. Looking at it on a map, they don’t seem very far away. I have never personally had to use these overflow lots and am not certain how regularly they are needed. I wouldn’t worry though if I did have to use an overflow lot – staff will direct you accordingly.

Once you’re fully parked, you will walk towards the cruise terminal (or take the shuttle if you’re in an overflow lot). There are staff in yellow vests stopping traffic so that crowds can cross the road safely.

There are also washrooms if you need to make use of the facilities before you go through the boarding process. They are outside the terminal near the crosswalk.

Follow staff and the crowds towards the terminal. As you enter the facility, there are different lines depending on your status and whether you have The Key or not. Inside you’ll go through security and formally check in with staff. This can involve taking photos for your SeaPass card and checking passports/identification. Passengers should arrive with their SeaPass printed or on their phone. Staff will also review your answers to the health and safety questionnaire. Signage prohibited me from taking photos of this part. In less than ten minutes, we were on board!

Upon Return to Cape Liberty Cruise Port

If you choose to get help with your luggage, it’ll be waiting in a large warehouse space organized by tag number. Collect your luggage or get help from a porter. You’ll then follow signs to go through customs. Customs has machines for facial scanning recognition. On our first cruise out of Cape Liberty, I was told Canadian passports wouldn’t scan so we had to check in with the customs agent. On our second cruise, ¼ of our faces scanned so we once again had to check in with customs. It’s very quick though – it took maybe 2 extra minutes.

There is also a room clearly labelled where you can collect confiscated items. I can’t remember exactly where it was, but it was easy to spot.

After you pass through customs, you can follow the signs to the right for the parking garage or go to the left for the terminal/rideshare, etc. If you parked in the garage OR the parking lot, follow the signs to the right toward the parking garage. That’s where you’ll find kiosks and staff to help you pay for your parking. They’ll give you a receipt and a parking stub that you’ll need to use upon exiting the parking lot.

liberty cruise parking

The first time we departed Cape Liberty, the exit process was extremely fast as staff were directing passengers to the parking pay machines. On our most recent trip, it was the opposite. Due to heavy rain, the port was short staffed and there was nobody to remind passengers to pay at the machine (there should be signs reminding people to pay at the machine, but I didn’t see any).

Many passengers were not aware that they were supposed to pay in advance at the kiosks and instead, tried to pay at the parking lot exit, which slowed departure for everyone. What usually takes a few minutes took over an hour on this particularly rainy day.

That’s why it’s critical to take your ticket with you and pay upon exiting the terminal, prior to going back to your vehicle.

Once you exit the lot, you’ll share the ticket with the attendant and take your receipt with you.

That’s it! Safe travels as you end your vacation!

12+ Easy Cape Liberty “Park & Cruise” Hotels

One of the best deals in cruising from Cape Liberty is booking a park and cruise hotel before your sailing.

Consider this: The Cape Liberty cruise port has on-site parking but it costs a healthy $22 per day. Take a 7-day cruise and you’ll be paying $154 to leave your car.

The good news? If you are driving into Cape Liberty, you don’t have to pay those high parking rates. Instead, park and cruise hotels can help you save money.

How Park & Cruise Packages Work

The premise is simple. In return for a night’s stay, many hotels near cruise ports will give you a package deal that includes parking. Packages are almost always more expensive than a regular room, but much cheaper than parking at the port.

For instance, a Cape Liberty hotel with a cruise parking deal might be $125 for a regular night, but $150 if you book the parking package. That extra $25 is almost nothing compared to the cost of parking at the port.

Given Cape Liberty’s proximity to Newark-Liberty International Airport, there are a number of hotels that cater to flyers with parking deals made with those headed to the airport in mind. However, these hotels are also the closest to Cape Liberty. So you can book the same package and simply head to the cruise port.

One thing to note is that most hotels don’t provide transportation to the cruise ships . It will be on you to get back and forth. The good news is that services like Uber and Lyft can get you there for only $10-15 each way.

Cape Liberty Hotels with Park & Cruise Packages

Below we have details on the Cape Liberty park and cruise deals we have found. Click each link to read reviews from past travelers. Keep in mind that to book a package you might need to book directly through the hotel. You’ll find their websites on TripAdvisor, linked below.

Note: This article contains affiliate links to TripAdvisor. We earn a commission for clicks made on their website, at no charge to you. Review ratings come from either Google or TripAdvisor and are rounded to the nearest half point.

Courtyard Newark Liberty International Airport While most hotels cater to flyers, this Courtyard is one of the few hotels that offers a package focused on cruise passengers. It’s right near the airport and has a “Park Here, Cruise There” deal. You get a room and eight nights of parking (which includes your night’s stay, plus seven more days while you cruise).

To book, use code “PCJ” for the special rate. Keep in mind if cruising more than a week you might have to pay extra for each night of parking after the first eight. During our search, the parking package was about $45 over the standard rate, or about two days of parking at the port.

  • Distance to Port: 11 miles
  • Review Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Newark Liberty International Airport Clean and comfortable, the Fairfield Inn & Suites offers its guests a “Park here, fly there” deal that you can use for cruise parking as well. It offers a room and eight nights of parking for about $30 over the standard rate. Additional days parking are $10 each, which is still cheaper than parking at the port. The hotel also offers free breakfast and wi-fi, which are nice perks. Keep in mind you’ll need to get transportation to and from the port.

  • Price: $$-$$$
  • Distance to Port: 8 miles
  • Review Rating: 4 out of 5

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Newark Liberty International Airport Need a little more space? How about a suite instead of just a room? This hotel may be just the thing. It also has a “Park and Cruise” package that will give you breakfast, wi-fi, your room, and seven nights of parking. Cruising longer? Extra parking is only $9 per night. You’ll want to get an Uber/Lyft to the cruise port, but that’s just a few bucks each way.

Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Newark International Airport The Ramada near the Newark airport isn’t far from the cruise port — just a 20-minute drive. It offers up a couple of packages designed with flyers in mind that you can use for your cruise. Ramada has a 7-night “Park Before You Fly” deal and a 14-night for those on longer trips. Best of all, the rate for the week’s parking is just $30 more than the base rate during our search, saving you a ton over parking at Cape Liberty.

  • Distance to Port: 9 miles

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport DoubleTree has a reputation for a nice night’s stay. This edition recently had renovations just completed. The hotel’s “Park and Go” deal gives you a week’s parking (additional nights are extra). There is a shuttle to the airport included, but you don’t have to use it. Instead, a ride to the cruise port will run $10-15.

Rates for the package are about $80 above the standard base rate, so you won’t save as much here as some of the other hotels on our list. Still, it is a higher-end hotel that you might prefer.

Best Western Plus Newark Airport West Looking for a package that’s specific to cruise passengers? The Best Western has you covered. The hotel has a “Stay and Cruise” deal. With this offer you get a ride to the cruise port from the hotel. That said, we found it expensive; it’s cheaper just to setup your own ride.

If you are parking, they have a “Sleep and Fly” rate that includes parking during your trip. It is about $50 more than the standard rate.

  • Distance to Port: 9.5 miles

Holiday Inn This Holiday Inn near the Newark airport has two parking deals, including one for 10 nights and one for 14 nights. In other words, no matter how long your cruise is, you’ll be covered. Before you book, however, you’ll want to check prices for your specific date. On our search, the 10-night package was about $150 more than the standard rate. It’s still cheaper than parking at the Cape Liberty port, but there are hotels with cheaper parking packages available.

  • Distance to Port: 10.5 miles

Hilton Newark Airport The Hilton is only 11 miles from the cruise port and offers a “Park and Fly” deal that includes your room and up to eight nights of parking. That’s a deal in its own right because the hotel normally charges $18 a night to park there. Meanwhile we find the parking rate to be only about $40 higher than the regular room rate. That will save you a bundle over parking at the cruise port if you also need a hotel room the night before your trip.

Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel Highly rated, the Renaissance name is known for offering a more luxurious stay than many other hotels. For cruise passengers driving in, they also have a special deal. The “Park Here, Cruise There” package give you a night’s stay and eight nights of parking. Additional nights are $20 each. You’ll need to get a ride to the cruise port, but at just $50 over the regular room rate, this is a good deal for those needing to park before their cruise.

Crowne Plaza Just four minutes from the airport, Crowne Plaza offers its guests a parking package that includes parking up to seven nights. After that it’s only $5 per day to continue parking there if your cruise goes long. The rate is about $45 more than the regularly nightly rate, so with the deal you’re getting a week’s worth of parking for under $50.

Courtyard Newark Elizabeth With stunning modern rooms that look to have been recently updated, we love the look at the Courtyard. Judging by the reviews, others like it as well. They also cater to cruise guests with a parking package that includes eight nights of parking at the hotel. We found rates about $70 more for the parking deal than the regular room rate. That’s a little pricier than other deals we’ve seen, but still a good value.

  • Distance to Port: 12 miles

Residence Inn Newark Elizabeth Residence Inn is in a small cluster just across Newark Bay from Cape Liberty in Bayonne. That puts you about 15 minutes from the cruise port and an even shorter distance to the airport. This hotel has a specific deal for cruise passengers that offers eight nights of parking in addition to your stay. Rates run about $50 higher than the regular room charge, and you’ll need to arrange transportation to and from the port.

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Newark Airport Don’t let the name “Country Inn” fool you. This hotel is surprisingly modern and updated. They offer several different parking packages — 7, 10, and 14 days. Rates for the 7-day parking are about $40 than the standard room rate. In other words, you get to park for about $6 per day. When it’s time to head to the pier, the ship is about 20 minutes away.

EXIT PROCEDURES

To be picked up from the port terminal, please wait at Zone 10 for the next shuttle to arrive. This is the designated pick-up area that we use at the terminal.

Liberty University’s Center for Entrepreneurship in the School of Business hosted the annual Create Fest on Friday in the Towns Auditorium, where students pitched their innovative business ideas to a guest judge panel and a crowd of Liberty students and College for a Weekend (CFAW) guests.

Sponsored by United Bank, Create Fest featured a total of seven student-run teams competing for a share of $10,000 in grant money.

Local business owners Jordan and Holly Nickerson, who founded Rookie’s, a dessert shop, and have previously participated as judges for Create Fest, served as emcees.

This year’s competition centered around the three pillars of “pray,” “think,” and “create,” encouraging students to first and foremost take their ideas to God before beginning the planning and implementation stages in creating a product.

Each contestant was given five minutes to present their ideas onstage and seven minutes to field questions from the judges. This year’s judges were Liberty alumnus Mike Morrison (’11, ’14), vice president of development at Resolute Private Wealth; Peter Shaddock, patent attorney at Shaddock Law Group, PC; Pastor Matt Ousdahl from Arundel Christian Church in Glen Bernie, Md.; and Lynchburg Mayor Stephanie Reed.

Contestants provided an overview of their product and explained how it will improve life for others. This year’s competition included presentations related to the fields of parking assistance, dental care, appliance attachments, mission work, navigational chat bots, and additional food and beverage locations in Lynchburg.

Brothers Adelin and Brandon Lucaci briefly shared about their invention, Novu, a caffeine and vitamin-infused lollipop that finished as a finalist in last year’s Create Fest. Novu is currently in the process of being implemented as a sales product in Lowe’s retail stores as well as several airports.

Taking home first place and the grand prize of $5,000 was the team of Austin Demorata-Braza and Andrew Farquhar, who presented their invention Wize Park, a mobile app designed to assist drivers in finding parking spaces in parking garages and increase overall parking garage safety. The proposed app includes live updates on open parking spaces in garages through AI-operated cameras as well as safety features such as cloud-based storage and an emergency call button.

Two presentations tied for third place, winning $1,000 each: Vacuclaw, designed by Stephen Loomans, a rubber vacuum cleaner attachment with teeth to collect pet hair more efficiently than a typical vacuum cleaner, and Botflow.io, an internet platform that can provide websites with personalized chatbots to assist in website accessibility and navigation for users.

After the event, business professor Kristin Boyce, director of the Center of Entrepreneurship, shared her appreciation for all of the 2024 Create Fest contestants.

“The event was amazing and speaks a lot to the students’ character and their drive and motivation to do something that takes a lot of time,” she said, noting that students were provided workshops and other resources leading up to the event to further perfect their inventions. “It takes a lot of time to create these business plans, the pitch decks, and all of the materials that they are doing. (They put) the heart and the hustle into it. Those students who are pouring all of the time and energy into that are the ones who are going to see the great reward.”

This year, Create Fest was also supported by the John W. Rawlings School of Divinity and School of Engineering .

“(We want) to be a conduit to connect (students) to resources so they can continue building these businesses,” Boyce said. “(We also give them) encouragement by giving them love, support, lots of prayer, and just being here so they have a place to come talk through these ideas and see what’s next.”

Junior Peace Lim, who serves as a student worker for the center, said Create Fest and other opportunities at Liberty emphasize the importance of being “image-bearers” of God.

“(God) has given us the ability to create, and as a Christian university, we want to harness that and have a space where we can encourage people to use the skills, talents, and the ideas that God has given them to bring glory to His name,” she said. “Ultimately, it’s not for our glory, but it’s always for His glory.”
