What You’ll See

Our 90-minute Biscayne Bay Cruise Tour begins at Downtown Miami’s Outdoor Shopping Mall — Miami’s home for exciting dining and name-brand shopping outlets. After circling around Port Miami, we’ll cruise past Fisher Island’s coconut palms and mangroves. On the opposite shore, the historic architecture of Miami’s Art Deco District basks in the sun.

Next, we pass Star Island, a man-made island home to Miami’s rich and famous, including:

Yes, we do have boats that are wheelchair accessible. Not all of the boats are wheelchair accessible, so please contact us and we’ll tell you at what time that boat is going to be going out.

BAD WEATHER? We Reschedule or Refund your tour.

NON-WEATHER CANCELLATIONS within 48 hours of the tour will result in a same-value voucher for a sightseeing cruise for use within 12 months of the original sightseeing cruise reservation.

CANCELLATION PROTECTION allows refundable last-minute boat tours and boat ride cancellations for any reason up to 4 hours before your scheduled boat tours.

What Should I Wear?

We recommend comfortable clothing, sunblock, hats, sunglasses, and soft-soled shoes for your Miami boat tour. You should bring sweaters or light jackets in the winter months for your boat ride in Miami as it could be cooler.

Will I Get Wet on this Boat Cruise in Miami?

You will not get wet on this boat cruise in Miami unless we experience very windy conditions. During summer months the boat tour might encounter light rain showers, however, we are usually able to work around them on our tours. On each Miami boat tour, we provide disposable rain protection to protect from rainy conditions.

The Boca Chita Lighthouse will undergo construction until further notice. During this period, scaffolding will encircle the structure, and public access to the lighthouse will be temporarily restricted. Please check Biscayne National Park’s website for updates. We appreciate your understanding.

Join us as we journey across Biscayne Bay and back through time to tell you the stories of the people whose influence shaped Biscayne National Park and its surrounding Miami and Florida Keys areas into what they are today.

This 3.5 hour experience will motor across Biscayne Bay and along the northernmost islands of the Florida Keys with a 1-hour stop at either Boca Chita Key, Elliott Key, or Adams Key. (The key stops are based on the conditions of the day.)

While you listen to the stories of Biscayne’s past, you will have the opportunity to see some of the extraordinary wildlife that inhabits the protected Mangroves and Seagrass meadows as you cruise along.

This activity is great for all ages! There is no snorkeling or paddling during this experience. There is a small beach at Boca Chita. We recommend you wear clothes that could potentially get wet from water splashing onto the boat. This is not a glass bottom boat tour although you will be able to see the bottom of the bay in the clear waters of Biscayne from the side of the boat.

This program will depart from Convoy Point located at the Dante Fascell Visitor Center in Homestead, FL . 9700 SW 328th Street Sir Lancelot Jones Way Homestead, FL 33033. Check out our  Transportation Page to learn more about transportation options for this location.

You will check-in at the Park store that’s located on the second floor right next to the visitor center 30 mins before the trip departs. Please complete your waivers before your trip to ensure a smoother check-in process.

This Biscayne cruise is great for all ages. We do ask to keep an eye on younger passengers in your group to ensure everyone’s safety. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Guests must be 42″ tall to go into the Boca Chita Lighthouse.

If you require an ADA accessible ramp for the boat, please call (786) 465-4058 when booking to be sure appropriate accommodations are possible.

This program has movements that could cause problems for pregnant women, those with recent surgeries or back injuries, and can cause motion/sea sickness. To best accommodate you and make your trip safe and enjoyable, please make a note in your reservation or privately notify our captain or mate if:

You can also bring a small cooler and a bag with you on the boat. Please do not bring anything that you don’t wish to get wet. We recommend storing any valuables in waterproof bag as water may splash in the boat on windy days.

Boat Information

• The boat will be a Corinthian 45 ft long boat    that will have a max of 30 passengers. This boat does have a small bathroom for emergency use only. We highly recommended using the bathroom in the visitor center before departing, as well as using the bathrooms in the island. During the trip, the boat stays in the bay the whole time, this will lessen the chance of motion sickness.
• There is a cooler with extra water on the boat, you will be able to use it to refill your water bottle. While cruising in the bay, especially on a windy day, there’s a chance that water will splash into the boat; we suggest storing anything that you don’t wish to get wet in a drybag.

Online waivers will be sent with the booking confirmation. No printing necessary. You can even complete the waivers on your phone! Adults over the age of 18 must complete and submit their own waiver. Minors ages 17 and younger must have a parent or legal guardian complete and submit a waiver on behalf of the minor. For snorkeling activities there are separate waivers for adults and minors, please be sure you are completing the appropriate waiver. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. To complete the waiver process, you will need to confirm your email address through and email that will be sent by Smartwaiver.

Is there a place on the boat to hold my stuff?  

• You can keep small items on the boat during your excursion but there is a possibility of them getting wet during the trip, we ask that you use a dry bag and keep personal belongs hidden inside of your vehicles.  

Is this a glass bottom boat?

• This is not a glass bottom boat, but in shallow areas the seagrass will be visible from the side of the boat. This trip will not go out to the ocean side, coral reef barriers will not be seen.

• Our tour guides, Naturalists, are continuous students of the natural world and provide interpretive, educational, and historical programs in South Florida’s National Parks. Each are trained by the National Park Service to ensure they are equipped with and can provide the most up to date information, research, and opportunities when connecting with guests.”

Pricing: $1,200 (plus fees) for up to 25 guests $1,400 for 26-40 guests

Rates include a two hour exclusive Private Tiki Cruise! Additional time may be available. Prices do not include any bar packages. 

Don’t have a confirmed guest count for your party yet? You can book your reservation for the minimum guest quantity, and then add additional passengers up to 48hrs prior to your cruise date.

Why book a Private Charter? You get the entire boat to yourselves, you can bring food onboard and control your own music!

Founded in 1892, the historic Red and White is legendary for its premiere San Francisco cruises. As a local, family owned business Red and White is committed to the environmental sustainability of San Francisco Bay and community education.

In 1892, seventeen-year-old Thomas Crowley launched the first of many companies which would one day be a fixture of the San Francisco Bay. Using $80 he had saved, he purchased a used Whitehall rowboat, and started a business supplying the ships at anchor in the Bay. His inaugural boat was just eighteen feet long and  five feet wide, and he rowed it alone through the waters of the Bay transporting both goods and passengers at a time when no bridges connected the city to the other parts of the Bay.

A sperm whale, the world’s largest-toothed animal, showed up just 11 miles outside of the Long Beach Harbor this week, hanging out in 900 feet of water on Tuesday, April 9.

“It was amazing,” said Harbor Breeze Cruises Capt. Erik Combs. “That’s the beauty of whale watching, you never know what you’re in store for. When you come across something like this, it makes your day.”

Combs said he had told his crew earlier in the day that he had a hunch something special was going to show up. When he saw the blow of the sperm whale in the distance, he and the boat crew jumped with joy, he said.

He called the encounter “super rare.”

“It was a good feeling, the uniqueness of it,” he said. “They are so interesting looking, they are kind of weird and wrinkly, their blowhole is on the left side of their head. They look kind of prehistoric.”

Sperm whales, which were the inspiration for the whale in “Moby Dick,” are said to have the biggest brains of any animal species and make the loudest sound of any animal on Earth.

They spend most of their time far from shore, typically foraging for food in deeper waters.

“They can hold their breath so long, they have epic battles with giant squid,” Combs said. “It’s a cool thing to see when you see it up close.”

The species’ population was decimated by whalers, who hunted them for their oil, once used in lamps, lubricants and candles.  These days, there’s an estimated 200,000.

This particular whale was milling around the ocean surface, before taking a long, 30-minute dive deeper into the water.

“You don’t know when they will come up,” Combs said. “It was just kind of looking around for food.”

It’s not totally unheard of to see sperm whales off the coast, sometimes showing up once or twice a year, but other times years can pass without sightings. Sperm whales, when they do show up, typically stick around for a few days, so whale watching boats will be keeping their eyes open on the water, Combs said.

The gray whale season is coming to a close soon, with still some sightings of moms and calves cruising up from Mexico and back to their feeding grounds in Alaska. There’s also been recent fin and humpback sightings, and Combs said as summer approaches, blue whales could be making an appearance.

“It’s a good time,” he said, “to go whale watching.”
