Fall Colours of New England (10 Days)

I personally enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. Well organized, all places to visit were chosen thoughtfully. Our guide, Scott, was simply the very right person for the tour, polite and entertaining. There is one comment though I’d like to submit. If only they could afford to give us more quality time to spend on all places we visited, instead of spending so much time on restroom stops, or eating places, I would say the trip was just excellent. still, we loved it very much.

Rock legend Lenny Kravitz paid a visit to Daytona Beach Buc-ee's. See the video

Buc-ee’s megastores are known for being places where you can get anything and everything ― even a rock god sighting.

Rock-n-roll legend Lenny Kravitz posted an Instagram video of himself at the Daytona Beach Buc-ee's on LPGA Boulevard over the weekend. The rocker stopped in with his tour bus on Saturday.

Hugs and selfies with Lenny Kravitz

“First time at Buc-ees . … So many smiling faces and warm hearts. … See you on the road!,” he posted along with the video on Instagram.

In the video, set against Kravitz's song “Human (Album Version),” he can be seen leaving his tour bus and walking into the Daytona Beach Buc-ee’s , strolling through various parts of the store, visiting the barbecue station, grabbing a bag of popcorn and beverages. He happily stops to engage with fans who give him hugs and take selfies with them before climbing back onto his tour bus.

His fans took to Instagram to comment:

"I would have perished right in front of the wall of jerky," wrote farrahrockon.

"Lenny doesn't walk, he floats on good vibes," posted kingoffree.

"Love it! Gotta get the road trip snacks!" wrote suzbaldwin.

Lenny Kravitz was 'super sweet'

Danielle Fatigate and her 9-year-old son Maxim were two of the lucky customers who got to meet Kravitz. Fatigate's husband, Anthony, who was with the couple's 12-year-old son Nico on the other side of the store, called out to his wife, "Danielle, get over here!"

"And I just grabbed my younger son's hand and ran over to [Kravitz]," Fatigate said.

The singer was very soft-spoken and "super sweet," she added. "I told him, 'God bless you' and he gave me a hug."

The family, who live in Windermere, drove from their beach house in New Smyrna to the Daytona Beach Buc-ee's to break up what was a rainy day.

"We certainly didn't expect to run into Lenny Kravitz," Fatigate said.

Kravitz begins a European tour this summer.

Lenny Kravitz played Daytona Beach Spring Break in 1993

This isn't Kravitz's first time to Daytona Beach. He played MTV's Daytona Beach Rocks Spring Break '93 where he performed his hits "Are You Gonna Go My Way?" and "Always on the Run."

Kravitz nominated for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Earlier this year, Kravitz, 59, was nominated as a potential inductee to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, class of 2024, along with Mary J. Blige, Oasis, Cher, Dave Matthews Band and more. Some of Kravitz's best known hits include “Are You Gonna Go My Way?,” “Fly Away” and ”Let Love Rule.”

Kravitz comes from a showbiz family. His mother, Roxie Roker, played Helen Davis on the CBS sitcom, "The Jeffersons," and his dad, Sy Kravitz was a producer at NBC. Lenny Kravitz has a daughter, Zoe, 35, with ex-wife Lisa Bonet.

Inside Celebrity Tour Buses: The Modifications Stars Make to their Mobile Homes

Who isn’t fascinated by celebrity homes? We love seeing the outrageous additions that adorn the mansions of the rich and famous. Couches worth tens of thousands of dollars, gourmet kitchens, and master bedrooms fit for royalty aren’t uncommon inside the homes of our favorite stars.

Not surprisingly, their mobile homes are no different.

For entertainers such as supermodels, singers, and even pro golfers, touring is what pulls in the most cash— a band can take home 35% of one night’s ticket sales plus up to 50% of the merchandise profits over one tour. Tirelessly entertaining dedicated fans from  New York to Chicago to Los Angeles  and every city in between, these celebrities may play up to 180 gigs in one year. When work requires such lengthy stretches of traveling on the road, comfortable mobile living space is a necessity.

While it seems a bit odd at first— why not just fly from one venue to another and save the time difference?— touring with a bus really is the most cost-effective and certainly the most convenient way to move a team around. These modified tour buses take away the stress of living out of a suitcase and provide celebrities with a “home base” where they can relax, unwind, and store all of their things in one consistent spot between appearances. It isn’t just a bus— it’s an office, a bedroom, a living room, a storage area, and a communal area to bond with your band and team, all in one big box on wheels.

Between living rooms, full bedrooms, and full bathrooms, celebrities work closely with companies that specialize in modifying tour buses to make them as homely and as comfortable as possible. These celebrities also tend to put a unique “touch” on their buses, some “touches” more outrageous than others. From leather couches to over-the-top back lounges, state-of-the-art kitchens, and even upstairs (yes, upstairs) lounges, celebrities certainly know how to get creative when it comes to building a unique “home away from home.”

All buses can be divided into four basic sections: a front lounge, which functions as a living room; a kitchen, or more typically, a “kitchenette;” a bunk area, where the band sleeps; and a back lounge, which is a bit of a “wild card” on these buses.

Keep reading to have a look inside the most extravagant celebrity tour buses we could find!

THE FRONT LOUNGE

A front lounge can usually seat about 10 people. They’re very “homey,” and great for socializing with band members and entourages or hosting friends and family. On either side of the lounge are usually couches, one of which is most likely placed on a “slide—” a mechanism that slides out when the bus is parked, adding up to 60 square feet of space and creating a proper living area.

front lounge of a celebrity tour bus

While some celebrities prefer to keep their lounges simple and sweet— as Kenny Rogers says of his humble wheeled abode, “You buy what you need and you fix it up great!” — others like to beef theirs up a bit with luxury couches, oversized TVs, or high-tech controls.

Tommy Lee’s coach features a cozy front lounge with two leather-upholstered couches costing $25,000 each.

The front lounge may also include some sort of “master control” for the entire bus. John Legend has an iPad connected to his bus’s server for controlling light settings, changing the television and music, and adjusting the air temperature. Stored right in the same server are over 1,000 movies so there’s always something good to watch on the road.

TVs are also a must-have for all front lounges, and you’d better believe they come big— Heidi Klum’s front lounge features a 46-inch screen embedded into the wall. Mariah Carey’s mobile castle features THREE 60-inch TVs plus an extra screen hidden behind her makeup mirror!

Heidi Klum and Mariah Carey ended up having two of our favorite mobile homes— we’ll explain why later.

Also included in many front lounges is a killer sound system that would compete with any typical grounded studio. The Eli Young Band’s bus includes a 12-speaker system that’s used for blasting music through after parties and rocking the bus on the road with their favorite albums. “Loud” is the best way to listen to music, right?

THE KITCHEN

After the lounge area comes the kitchen. On a typical RV, kitchens are almost nonexistent— it is, after all, quite difficult not only to store all of the usual kitchen equipment but also to make room for appliances such as a stove, oven, and microwave, not to mention necessary counter space and cabinets. On top of all of that, who even has time to cook for themselves while they’re busy playing shows? Kitchens simply aren’t a priority on the road for most. The usual mobile kitchen features are a coffee maker, an electric tea kettle, and a mini-fridge.

Kitchen on the bus of a celebrity

John Legend’s bus, however, houses a full stove top, a toaster, a microwave that doubles as a convection oven, and extra cabinet space for preparing gourmet meals in between performances.

Despite limited space, though, alcohol is always a priority. For entertaining an entourage and unwinding after big shows, drinks on-demand are a must-have. Gwen Stefani’s coach includes a wine chiller, always stocked with a wide selection of her favorite blends.

Jake Owen’s kitchen even has a beer tap— every time his band stops in a new city, they will make an agreement to trade show tickets with a local brewery in exchange for a local beer on-tap on the bus.

Ron White’s kitchen features a hidden-away humidor with two sides— one for his cigar stash, and one for his scotch.

Brad Pitt’s mobile kitchen takes the cake. His features all of the amenities of any usual kitchen— the stove, the oven, the microwave, the counter, and the cabinet space— plus a built-in full refrigerator and dishwasher, totaling a cost of $60,000 just for the kitchen— more than double what the average person spends on a kitchen remodel in their house!

Past the usual mobile kitchen, you’ll find the bunks. Sleeping on a bus sounds painfully uncomfortable, right? The way most celebrities do it, it doesn’t have to be. Typically, each bunk features its own mini television, a curtain for privacy, individual controls for air conditioning and lighting, and sometimes memory foam mattresses! The average tour bus bunk is just about the size of a regular twin-size bed.

bunk interior of a celebrity tour bus

Lee Brice, however, took it up a notch on his bus with custom oversize bunks, which they call “condo bunks,” that feature all the regular amenities at a slightly larger size for extra comfort.

Many celebrities report that sleeping in mobile bunks isn’t so bad— the movement of the bus has a tendency to rock them to sleep, which is necessary considering the grueling daily schedules they may keep during a tour.

Most buses can accommodate 6-8 bunks, in which everyone can have their defined private space separate from everybody else. You’ll usually see pictures of family, charging outlets, and various other personal belongings inside each bunk.

THE BACK LOUNGE

Back lounges are where we find some of the most unique modifications.

For the most part, celebrities keep the back lounge as their private bed area— everyone needs their own quiet space, right? There’s usually a master bathroom included in the back, too, with a full shower, walk-in closet, and counter space. Tommy Lee’s master bathroom includes a full-size shower with a TV in the wall, and a closet with a fuzzy rail to keep hangers from sliding while the bus is moving.

John Legend’s master suite includes a plush queen-sized bed that slides out just like the couches in the front lounge. Also in his master suite is a 5.1 surround-sound system, with a subwoofer under the bed to make movie-watching in the back even more exciting.

hemphill brothers back lounge on a celebrity tour bus

Back lounges are more than just bedrooms, though. Travis Barker’s master bed folds up into the wall with the push of a button, creating the perfect private space for practicing his drums. He’s also made room for not just one, but two bathrooms on his coach, so there’s never any fighting over who’s getting the coveted bathroom space.

Laura Bell Bundy had a dance studio built in her back lounge, complete with a full-length mirror and a ballet bar, allowing her to practice routines between shows.

Ashley Monroe’s back room has been dubbed a “girls-only zone,” where she and her girlfriends can get ready for shows together and stay secluded from the rest of her band.

However, back lounges also have many more specific uses, such as that of Hunter Hayes— situated in the back of his bus is a full recording studio, in which he makes serious progress on all of his current songs. The studio features a mixing station, multiple monitors, and 5.1 surround sound. In it, he’s finished 20-30 demos while on the road.

Our favorite back room, though, belongs to Jeff Dunham— he has a full workshop in the back of his bus where he can not only construct but also repair his puppets while on the road, ensuring that they remain in pristine condition for shows.

Now, if all of this makes you roll your eyes and say, “of course they have all that, they’re celebrities!” Just wait— we aren’t quite finished yet.

Have a look inside these 3 over-the-top celebrity homes. These coaches are so spectacular that we couldn’t even single out our favorite features above!

Supermodel Heidi Klum is the proud owner of what is possibly the “greenest” mobile home on the planet. Her office on wheels is the world’s only 100% solar-powered RV, packed with countless other “green” modifications throughout the interior and exterior.

The designers of this eco-friendly coach took great care in conserving energy in every way possible when constructing Heidi’s mobile workspace. All throughout the RV are energy-efficient LED bulbs, which draw less power and don’t add heat to the coach; and high-grade eco-friendly fabric, covering the floor and upholstery. Located by the living space is a control panel, at which one staff member is tasked with ensuring that the RV runs exclusively off of solar power for as long as possible (in the event of an emergency, the coach can easily be switched to draw power from a generator).

With a floor plan that more closely resembles a luxury hotel room than a motor home, this coach includes a total of 320 square feet of living space, including a couch, a loveseat, and a 42-inch TV. Without a bunk area like most other buses, the main living space flows into a spacious kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator, a desk made completely out of recycled wood, and a small sink. The back room serves as a makeup area and dressing room, complete with an oversize mirror surrounded by eco-friendly lights, and a professional- grade hair-washing sink.

MARIAH CAREY

on tour bus

Just the front lounge and kitchen of Mariah Carey’s mobile mansion cover 600 square feet— bigger than most New York studio apartments! The lounge includes a 15-foot custom couch, a 25-foot slide on one side, and a 30-foot slide on the other. Facing the oversized couch is a 65-inch TV, connected to a 5.1 studio-grade surround-sound system. In the back is a full kitchen with a full stove top, refrigerator, convection oven, and a kangen water machine— a $4000 water ionizer designed to purify tap water by removing alkaline minerals.

Right by the kitchen is Mariah’s makeup station featuring a mirror surrounded by makeup lights, with a TV placed directly behind the surface of the mirror so that Mariah can watch her favorite shows while she’s getting her hair and makeup done.

Fantastic, right? We would expect nothing less from a star of Mariah’s status. But guess what? The top of this bus expands to an entire second story . That’s right— this bus is two stories tall when parked.

The second floor of this skyscraper on wheels is connected to the first by a marble staircase. Upstairs, you’ll find unique lighting with a color wheel, creating the perfect mobile dance club for Mariah and her entourage. Wrapping around the back of the dance floor is a 35-foot rounded couch that can seat up to 30 people, facing two more 60-inch TVs, one placed at either end of the bus.

All of the over-the-top amenities in this luxurious mobile tour home, which includes more than two tons of marble and stone, bring the cost to a staggering $1.8 million.

STEVE ELKINGTON

on tour bus

Pro golfer Steve Elkington takes the grand prize for the most insane mobile home modifications. His stunning mobile estate, which he’s nicknamed “The Big Show,” is an astounding 1,130 square feet, spread over two stories just like Mariah Carey’s moving castle. Standing in Steve’s over-the-top estate feels less like being in a bus and more like being in a cozy cottage— the coach is modeled after a golf clubhouse, meant to have that “19th-hole” vibe that all golfers love. Included in this wheeled mansion are a full washer and dryer, a full kitchen, a living room, a pro shop, a shoe rack, and a master suite, all on one massive mobile manor.

The kitchen features a full gas stove, an oven, and high-end appliances, with a restaurant-style booth for dining. The living room features a typical slide on the right side with the couch, adding even more square feet to the home. Just past the living room is Steve’s own putting green and a pro shop, where guests can come in and browse some of his golf gear. Next to the shop is his personal shoe rack and a station for cleaning and polishing his collection of shoes.

Right by the stairs are the full washer and dryer, tucked away in their own closet for when it’s time to take care of a few chores.

The roof lifts 35 feet to reveal a master suite, complete with a queen-size bed and a pop-up tv disguised as a cabinet at the foot of the bed. The TV screen can swivel to face the master bed or the two plush chairs that Steve and his wife often use to read or relax between games.

Finally, the home is completed with a luxurious master bathroom by the bed area.

From leather-upholstered living rooms to walk-in closets to upstairs dance clubs, we can’t say that we aren’t a little jealous of these luxurious buses . With living on these spectacular mobile mansions and simultaneously touring for months at a time year after year, it’s clear that these celebrities know how to work hard and play hard.

Review: The Big Bus Tour in New York City

I absolutely loved the Big Bus Tour in New York City. It’s the best way to go sightseeing in an open-top, hop-on hop-off, top-rated tour and explore the best New York attractions !

If this is your first-time visiting New York and you want to see all the top landmarks, this double-decker tour bus will take you there.

The Big Bus Tour in New York

You may be wondering if a hop-on hop-off bus is worth it. Absolutely, yes!

If you consider the time and money spent on transportation costs, waiting for buses, navigating the subway (which can be confusing for visitors), and getting from one point of interest to another, it is worth every dollar!

I had a great visit to New York City on Big Bus Tour. My goal was to show the city to some friends from Italy who were visiting the US for the first time.

Since we only had about two days to spend together, the hop-on hop-off was undoubtedly the best decision.

From our experience, we’ll answer commonly asked questions about the Hop-on Hop-off bus while visiting New York City.

Google Reviews

Why take the big bus tour in new york.

While seeing New York from the open-top deck of the double-decker bus, the city unfolded block by block with panoramic views from every angle.

As we traveled through the streets, the sights were unobstructed and new visual backdrops were revealed.

The towering skyscrapers and colorful billboards filled the air with excitement and as the cityscape continued to change, it gave a grand feeling to the experience.

I especially enjoyed being able to relax from the upper deck of the bus while taking in the energy of city scenes.

Because I also live in a large city, the rhythm felt familiar from the elevated vantage point .

Car horns were honking, crowds traversed through the streets and there was an endless hum of activity.

Best of all, the tour gave me the chance to interact with other travelers who were seeing New York while waiting for the tour to began.

We struck up conversations and exchanged stories, insights, and recommendations during our stay in New York.

How Much is the Big Bus Tour in New York

The regular price of an adult and child ticket is $60.00 and $50.00, respectively. However, you can use the link below for discounted fares.

How Long is the Big Bus Tour in New York

The round-trip New York City Big Bus Tour takes about two hours from start to finish.

The bus is the perfect solution for visitors worldwide because they offer pre-recorded audio narratives and translations in five languages — French, German, Spanish, Italian, and English.

Are There Toilets on the Big Bus

No. Unlike charter buses, you won’t travel long between stops. So the best thing to do is exit at a stop, find a public restroom, see an attraction, if desired, and then catch the next bus.

If you are not sure where to find one, ask a Big Bus guide on the street. The driver may also have some suggestions.

Charter buses come equipped with a bathroom because travel is expected to be for a much longer period.

How Does the Big Bus Tour Work in New York City

The tour offers three options for purchase — 1-day, 2-day, and 3-day.

When you decide the number of days of your tour and purchase your ticket, the clock starts when your ticket is scanned while boarding the bus for the first time.

The ticket is good for 24, 48, or 72 hours. So, if you have a 1-day ticket and board the bus at 11:00 AM on Monday, it can still be used until 11:00 AM on Tuesday.

We found a ton of touring options for sightseeing in New York.

Aside from the extended period, the 2 and 3-day tickets also offer discounted bike rentals.

The buses run every 20 minutes on average. However, the first stop at the M&M store can be a long wait during peak season.

You can exit or board at any of the designated stops as much as you want.

The only exclusion is the one-loop tour Night Tour which is a panoramic non-stop tour.

Where to Catch the Big Bus Tour in New York City

During the tour, the buses only stop at designated stops.

Your ticket is good for as long as the buses operate during the day and it may be used on both the red and blue routes.

When you board, make sure you get a hop-on hop-off New York bus route map!

Big Bus NYC Red Route

The red route sightseeing tour covers lower Manhattan and you’ll see many landmarks like St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Wall Street, the Chrysler Building, and General Grant’s Tomb.

You can catch a tour at any one of the following bus stops and you can get your tickets in advance of boarding.

1 – M&M’s World – 7th Ave & W 48th St (Outside M&M World & Majestic Deli)

2 – Times Square East – W 42nd St & Broadway (at Knickerbocker Hotel)

3 – Empire State Building / Korea Town – 5th Ave & W 32nd St (at CVS Pharmacy)

4 – Flatiron District – 5th Ave & W 23rd St (at Eisenberg’s Sandwich Shop)

5 – SoHo – Broadway and Spring Street (at Nike Store)

6 – Chinatown / Little Italy – 100 Lafayette Street (near the corner at Walker St)

7 – Brooklyn Bridge – Park Row & Beekman St (across from 33 Park Row)

8 – Wall Street / Charging Bull – Broadway & Wall St (Southwest corner near Rector St)

9 – Statue of Liberty / Battery Park – State St and Bridge St (at Subway Entrance)

10 – Circle Line Sightseeing – 12th Ave & 40th St (opposite Pier 81)

11 – Times Square North – 7th Ave & W 50th St (at Majestic Deli)

Big Bus NYC Blue Route

The blue route covers upper Manhattan, and half of the ride is mostly views of Central Park. You can switch to the blue route at red stop #2.

We recommend changing routes at stop #11 (the Majestic Deli) where you can take a break and have a nice lunch.

12 – The Metropolitan Museum of Art – 5th Ave & E 83rd St (near 83rd St)

13 – Central Park Zoo – 5th Ave & E 66th St (opposite 845 5th Ave)

14 – Columbus Circle – Central Park & Columbus Circle (SW corner of Central Park)

Tips and Things to Know Before You Go

The bus has two levels, the upper level offers panoramic views of the city but be careful of overhanging traffic lights and trees. Don’t stand while the bus is in motion.

  • After you find a seat, check the audio to confirm it is working.
  • Snacks are allowed. Bring a frozen bottle of water and protein bites to keep you energized.
  • When on the upper deck, cover up with sunscreen to protect your skin on hot sunny days.
  • If you are a family of 3 or more, take seats across from one another so you’ll have views and photos from both sides of the bus.

Tourists were lined up at stop #1 at least an hour before departure and the line extended the entire block and rounded the corner.

We decided to see other points of interest and returned around 11:00 AM.

The wait to board the bus was about 20 minutes. It was a relaxing ride and there we saw so much!

By the time we reached stop #9, we were pumped and ready to exit the bus so that we could explore the city! And you probably will be too.

Here’s the secret sauce that really made the experience memorable. Exit at stop #9 and take a FREE ferry to Staten Island.

To see the Statue of Liberty, stand on the left side of the boat. When returning, stand on the right side.

Traveling on a budget? Read my review of the Westside YMCA Hotel !

Final Thoughts About the Big Bus Tour in New York City

Overall, the tour was a pleasant way to see New York city and when you are on the upper deck, you hardly notice the traffic.

Some other advantages of seeing the city by bus include:

  • Avoiding parking hassles. I mean, who actually drives in New York?!
  • Photo opportunities. With the open-top or large windows, you have excellent photo opportunities as you pass by iconic landmarks and cityscapes.
  • Comprehensive sightseeing of major landmarks and attractions within two hours.
  • You can get local recommendations from the guides who operate the bus.

I usually opt for a hop-on hop-off bus when I am short on time or to get my bearings in the city before deciding what to do.

Either way, when you take the tour bus, it doesn’t appear impossible to take a bite out of the Big Apple.

Happy Travels!

Absolutely loved this tour! I loved that we saw clips from films then saw the actual site. Star struck! Amadeo was a fantastic guide, so funny and very knowledgeable. He engaged with everyone on the trip and was able to answer most questions thrown at him. Definitely recommend.

Me and my friend were huge fans of Gossip Girl so we thought we’d do the tour! We had Abby and she was amazing. Also we weren’t expecting clips from the series to be shown for each location we went to so that was super helpful, as we haven’t watched the show for years. All in all would definitely recommend!

Maria was our superhero guide and there’s nothing this girl does not know about DC/Marvel, and Comic Books. The young ones (15,13,9) were totally entertained, as were the parents!!! Best bit of this tour - we were brought inside relevant buildings!! Maria showed great clips from the various movies as we passed on the bus.

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

on tour bus

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.

Luxury Rating

Some trips are like a stroll on the beach, while others have you trekking alpine passes. Some of you thrive on camping out on the savannah, while others may prefer a hot shower and a comfortable bed in a lodge. Follow the grading systems below to find the right trip for you.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport. So whether you're travelling on a budget and want to save money by using public transport, or prefer upgraded accommodation and are happy to pay a little more, then we have a level for you.

So, you’ve found yourself on a bus (coach) tour. Welcome to living in tight quarters with 10 other people and very little privacy. Now you’ll need to know how to properly conduct yourself in your new home. Knowing the unspoken code of the road will help keep you safe and hopefully make your coworkers not downright resent you.

First and foremost, this is your home on the road. It needs to be treated with the same respect you give your own place. Unless you’re a miserable slob, if that’s the case treat it way better than your own home.

Learn your drivers name they are a part of the team- and its just polite! The driver is not your maid; cleaning up your mess is not part of their responsibilities nor is it anyone elses.  The driver is there to drive the tour bus and do light maintenance, not to clean up your 4am Cheetos fight. Remember that at the end of your day, the drivers day is just starting. Check in once in awhile to see if he/she needs anything. K eep your driver happy! The Driver is responsible for more than just getting from point a to point b, e ver try to sleep while someone rides the rumble strip? Not fun.

When the tour bus makes a stop, like at a truck stop for instance, let someone know when you are leaving the bus. You can leave something like your show pass on the jump seat so the driver knows someone has left. You definatly do not want to get left behind- although if you do it would be wise to have the drivers mobile number in case everyone else on the bus is sleeping. Which leads us to another important rule- Bus call. Be on time when the bus is scheduled to depart, don’t get “oil spotted” (left behind).

Remember that you now share a very tiny apartment with around 10 other people, so normal roommate etiquette applies  ×1000. Don’t leave your stuff lying around, especially in the bunk area where someone could easily trip in the dark. Tour busses have loads of hidden storage, explore and use it. If you are lucky enough to not have a full tour bus (12 people), the extra bunk(s) become the “junk bunk” for overflow bags. Luggages goes into the allocated bays which are located underneathe or towards the back and are accessed from the outside of the bus. Be sure to grab the things you may need before the bus starts on its way. Its probably gonna be a long ride.

At all times make sure the tour bus is locked whenever you exit or after you enter! If you go into one of the luggage bays make sure they are locked after you are finished. This is the responsibility of everyone on the bus. Whenever leaving the bus be conscious of where you are when first opening the door- If the bus is parked on the street you need to be aware that you maybe stepping out into traffic or there may be other obstacles… like people.

You are responsible for who you bring on the bus. Guests should be cleared with the other people who live on this bus. These guests need to be aware of the rules and act accordingly.

No Slamming doors! People may be sleeping… Euro/UK drivers usually have a bunk on the bus for daytime sleeping and you may have a second driver as well for long drives since one driver is only legally allowed to drive for a specified number of consecutive hours.

→ buses in the U.S are usually broken up into 3 sections for passengers.

bus_layout_3

1.)The front lounge. 2.)The bunk area- two rows stacked 3 high on each side. 3.)The back lounge.

U.K/euro busses are usually double deckers with the kitchen, lounge and restroom down stairs and the bunks(3 rows stacked 2 high) and a secondary lounge upstairs. The same rules apply.

The front lounge

generally has some seating, an ice chest, TV’s, a small kitchenette with a booth and a restroom. Some tour buses have a slide out on the drivers side to expand when parked up. If someone buys some special vegan gluten free item and writes their name on it, feel free to make fun of them, but don’t eat their stuff. Classic roommate no no. Typically, drinks store in the drawers under the front lounge couches, and cold drinks can go in the coolers (beer!).

The restroom is not a general use facility. It is for LIQUID WASTE ONLY. The septic maintenance on chemical toilets is too costly and frequent to justify. Any toilet paper and feminine products go in the waste basket and anything else should wait until the tour bus stops to refuel. If that is not an option you can ask the driver to stop or as a last resort you can stretch a plastic bag over the toilet. I repeat, this maneuver is as a last resort only. Try not to be gross, ok?

Any water from sinks on the tour bus should be used for washing/rinsing only. Use bottled water to brush your teeth. Note personal hygiene is that much more significant when in such close contact. Though some buses do have showers they are almost never in operation. You’ll need to shower in the venue or a day room at a hotel, if provided, when venue showers are nonexistent.

When you’re tired go to your bunk, do not fall asleep in common areas. If you do you will probably wake up with a sharpie illustrated face.

Your bunk is your sacred space. It’s often the only place you can go to get a break from the madness. As far as choosing a bunk- first come first serve. If you are joining an existing crew ask what bunks are available. If you need to have a lower/higher bunk for any reason advance this with the tour manager, hopefully they can accommodate you. Try to avoid, tempting as it may be, making phone calls from your bunk- especially when others are sleeping. We can all hear you baby talking with your girlfriend/boyfriend and it’s obnoxious. Your bunk is probably outfitted with a flip down TV that is more useful as a place to hit your head rather than a source of entertainment.

Speaking of hitting your head, make sure you orient yourself with your HEAD TO THE REAR  of the tour bus. If the driver has to brake aggressively you could receive a serious brain or neck injury IF YOUR NOT LAYING FEET TOWARDS THE FRONT.

The bunk area should be kept cold so as not to incubate germs ( info here ). Getting sick on tour sucks, getting the whole crew sick is hell.

Quality of sleep is drastically affect by the temperature  ( info here ). The optimal temperature varies from 65°F to 72°F with 68°F being what is best for most people .  Use a blanket if your cold, don’t touch the thermostat.

Useful things to have in your bunk:

– Earplugs

– Water

– Headphones

– Book

the back lounge

This consists of seating, closet space, an ice chest and usually a television with video game console. The use of this area depends on the tour. Sometimes its for phone calls and meetings, other times it is just overflow from the front lounge. It all depends on the collective personality of the people riding on the bus.

Most importantly, remember that you were hired as a professional and you should conduct yourself as such. Everyone likes to have a good time but don’t over do it. Don’t be the person that pukes out the top bunk. Don’t be someone who gets so drunk and mistakes someone else’s bunk for the urinal (true story). More often than not people get fired not for poor job performance but for poor behavior.

Hopefully this helps you to stay safe, stay liked, and stay employed.

Cornwall family lives in converted Coldplay tour bus after disability house plan rejected

Antoni Taylor has completely renovated two buses saving his family a fortune as he says enough is not being done to tackle the housing crisis in Cornwall

A father says he got so fed up with trying to put a roof over his family's head and getting nowhere with it that he's decided to convert two buses for them all to live in - and he claims one is the former Coldplay tour bus.

Antoni Taylor and Emma Heard, both 30, live with their five young children and his older sister Hannah, 35, at Ruan Minor. The carer has accused Cornwall Council of letting his family fall through the cracks of the crumbling housing market.

Originally from Helston , he essentially has too much money in the bank to qualify for social housing, couldn't find a rental with disabled access for his sister, or that was large enough to fit family of eight, and said trying to get a mortgage on a suitable property would be far outside of their reach due to their income.

Their unique circumstances have meant Antoni's only option was to build a home that would suit their needs and be more affordable - but with a planning application pending since July of last year, he's slammed the system saying it's taking too long.

He says it's left him no choice but to relocate their family to a double-decker bus and a former Coldplay tour bus, which he believes was the location where the infamous break-up between Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow - known as a 'conscious uncoupling' - occurred, which he explains in a video you can watch at the top of this page.

"Because I'm Hannah's full-time carer my employment status isn't great so estate agents won't even touch me," he said. The buses, one of which is designed to be wheelchair-accessible for Hannah, are currently stationed on land owned by his landlord, from whom the Taylors are renting a property but have been issued a no-fault eviction notice from.

The landlord has agreed to allow Antoni to build his own home on a different parcel of land, also owned by the landlord, in Redruth - but wanted him to get planning permission before buying it from him, so he didn't fork out on land that would be useless to his family.

on tour bus

"We don't need social housing help, I just want to build on this perfectly suitable land," Antoni added. "It would save me £30,000 to £40,000 and the council won't have somebody like me kicking off to them. It's disgraceful that I can't do this."

The application is to build an "affordable self-build property" that will have a Section 106 agreement, but Antoni believes that it's not been approved because he doesn't have a local connection to Redruth, having lived in the Helston area since he was a boy.

"All I see is people pleading or begging for somewhere to live and the council is allowing these huge companies to build all these executive homes that are half a million pounds each. Who can afford that? Who can even afford a £200,000 house right now?"

on tour bus

"Then I'm just trying to build a home for my family and I'm not allowed. I know so many people living in vans in laybys because there is nowhere to go. Others are starting to live with their parents again. I'm just furious with it and I've tried to do it all peacefully and legally but it doesn't seem to do anything."

He has been applying for 18 months for planning permission with his first application rejected. He says he's still not heard back on the latest application despite the council saying it should get back to applications in six to eight weeks.

In total he claims to be £12,000 out of pocket on application fees, architectural floorings and other admin associated with the plans but most of all he doesn't want to be letting his sister down, whose mum was her previous carer before passing away in 2019.

"She has cerebral palsy and is one of the most vulnerable people in the county and I feel like the council doesn't give a crap. If I could just build a house for my family the council wouldn't have someone like me kicking off at them."

Among the renovations carried out, the buses they now live in full-time have been fitted with a boiler, hot water and heating. He said they are currently hooked up to the rental house for electricity but do have solar panels.

on tour bus

To rent a four-bedroom house, that would not be suitable for his sister, he'd be looking at relocating his brood and paying a minimum of £1,250 per month in rent. Currently they pay just £400 to keep the buses on the land in comparison.

It cost £35,000 for the family to buy and renovate the buses which they did using inheritance after his mum died suddenly from a brain aneurysm.

Among the impressive features inside the bus, which the family document on TikTok, the couple's five children have their own bedrooms - something they could never afford in a house. But still Antoni says he's regularly made to "jump through hoops" to live in them by Cornwall Council.

on tour bus

Cornwall Council had previously said it was very sympathetic to those, like Antoni Taylor's family, struggling to find somewhere settled to live in the county, blaming "extreme and unprecedented pressures" on housing. It said there was a high demand for accommodation which includes its own housing stock, properties that it rents, or other accommodation.

A spokesperson said: “If anyone is threatened with homelessness, we will work with them to try and prevent that from happening. Under homelessness legislation the Council has a duty to provide temporary accommodation to certain households and we work with them on a Personalised Housing Plan."

This sets out the steps they should take to secure alternative accommodation and the support that the Council is able to offer with this which can include help with bidding for properties on Homechoice, or a rent advance and deposit to support the resident secure private rented accommodation.

It said anyone who submits a planning application that is rejected is also welcome to appeal the decision. CornwallLive has asked the council about the hold-up with getting the planning application processed and we are waiting to hear back.

Museum bus tour will highlight Black arts and culture

Woman sits on a bench looking at the Duncanson Murals in the foyer of the historic house.

A bus tour of local art museums aims to showcase Black artworks and help people feel more comfortable in those spaces. The National Commission for Black Arts & Entertainment is creating the "Family Heritage Hop: A Black Arts & Culture Museum Tour," set to launch later this spring.

"I feel like everybody should have access to the arts here, and I wanted to be able to break down any barriers to that," says Daphney Thomas, commission president and founder.

"Oftentimes some families don't have access, or they might not feel that they are welcome in certain places, or know that there are artists and projects and programs that do reflect African American culture, and that they are welcome and that they can ... see themselves inside of these spaces."

RELATED: Podcast 'The Art Of...' focuses on local creatives and their process

The commission is creating the tour using a $10,000 grant from ArtsWave. It's part of the arts organization's Catalyzing Impacts program that just awarded more than $326,000 for 49 projects.

Participants — the plan is for each tour to take 50-60 people — will visit several local art museums such as the Taft Museum of Art and the Cincinnati Art Museum, and explore works created by Black artists. There also will be food, activities, workshops, and the opportunity to engage with some of the artworks.

Thomas is aiming to offer four free bus tours between May and September. The ArtsWave grant will cover the first two and the commission is applying for additional funding from other sources for the second two.

While the tours will be open to everyone, Thomas wants to reach those who might not be able to get to or afford to visit the museums on their own, and especially children.

LISTEN: Cincinnati’s Black arts community is growing

"We would love to extend the offer to those that might not have the means to afford to take their family — meaning all of their children to the museums — and those who might find themselves without transportation. Those are the two barriers that we are removing for those who find themselves in need of those," she says.

Thomas is also hopeful people, especially children, will be energized to return, learn more, get engaged, and be excited about the arts because they can see themselves reflected in the art and artists.

Diddy's l.a. home now a popular tour bus destination after federal raid, hollywood tour companies raid spikes interest in diddy's house.

Diddy 's Los Angeles estate is attracting tons of visitors this week -- besides the feds who raided the place, and really because of them, tourists are desperate to get just a peek at the mansion.

We spoke with several tour bus companies that have been cruising by Diddy's pad a lot in the wake of Monday's shocking raids, and they say customer interest was definitely piqued by the headlines.

A couple tour companies say their buses are packed to the gills this week ... which they admit is due to this being spring break as much as it is Diddy's legal woes.

In any case, these companies tell us their customers are explicitly asking to drive by the mogul's house ... as they're clearly marking it as a major point of interest now.

Now, it's not like most of these companies are having to pivot and change their routes ... they tend to drive past Diddy's fairly regularly, anyway. In fact, one company claims their bus was there while the raid was in progress this week!

That would be an exciting moment, for sure, considering typical celeb home tours are kinda boring.

Fact is, It's near impossible to see anything more than the front gates of those mansions.

As we reported ... federal agents raided Diddy's properties Monday in Los Angeles and Miami -- and our sources say the Bad Boy mogul was completely blindsided to learn the U.S. Attorney's Office had launched an investigation.

That was pretty evident from the video we got of Diddy pacing around the parking lot outside a Miami airport where his private jet was searched at the same time the home raids were conducted.

FWIW ... Diddy denies all wrongdoing, and slammed this entire operation as nothing but a "witch hunt."

He's also taking issue with what he and his attorneys view as the excessive force used to execute the search warrants, which left his Holmby Hills home in ruins afterward.

If Diddy's lookin' for peace and quiet -- at least here in L.A. -- he definitely ain't getting it with tourists flocking to his pad in droves.

Going to Olivia Rodrigo's tour? What to know to be a perfect all-American (you know what)

on tour bus

Three-time Grammy winner and pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo is coming to Ohio. That's right, Livies, gather your red lipstick, fishnets and pent-up emotion. We're in for a night.

Rodrigo will perform at Nationwide Arena in Columbus on Friday, March 22 . The show is part of her Guts world tour, which kicked off Feb. 23 in California and shares the name of her sophomore album.

I plan to make the hike from Cincinnati to Columbus to see our girl perform. So ahead of the show, I gathered answers to questions I wondered myself, as well as some I noticed fans were searching on Google (Both nationally and locally. I want our friends going to other shows to have the answers they need).

So whether you have already secured the coveted tickets to the show or are still looking, here's everything you need to know before you spill your guts with Rodrigo.

Is the Oliva Rodrigo concert sold out?

Tickets to the Olivia Rodrigo concert in Columbus on March 22 are sold out on Ticketmaster. Tickets are still available on resale sites, such as SeatGeek , Vivid Seats and StubHub , with the cheapest options falling around $300 to $400 before fees.

As for other American cities? Those are sold out, too. You can join a waitlist on the official tour website for when tickets become available. But check ticket resale sites for availability, as those may be your best bet.

Olivia Rodrigo Guts tour setlist

Rodrigo's setlist contains all 12 songs from her "Guts" album, favorites from her debut album, "Sour," and her song "Obsessed," which is a deluxe track on "Guts" that hasn't yet been released on streaming.

  • "Bad Idea, Right?"
  • "Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl."
  • "Drivers License."
  • "Teenage Dream."
  • "Pretty isn’t Pretty."
  • "Love is Embarrassing."
  • "Making the Bed."
  • "Enough for You."
  • "Jealousy, Jealousy."
  • "Favorite Crime."
  • "The Grudge."
  • "Obsessed."
  • "All-American Bitch."
  • "Good 4 U" (encore).
  • "Get Him Back!" (encore).

What time does the Olivia Rodrigo concert start?

Rodrigo's concert at Nationwide Arena will start at 7:30 p.m. ET. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. ET. If you're attending Rodrigo's concert in a different city, check your tickets for the start time.

What time does Olivia Rodrigo go on stage?

According to Reddit , Rodrigo goes on stage at or around 8:30 p.m.

A Reddit user commented the following schedule for the concert:

  • 7:30 pm: concert opener goes on stage.
  • 8:00 p.m.: opener finishes.
  • 8:30 p.m.: Rodrigo goes on stage.
  • 10:00 p.m.: Rodrigo finishes.

However, a Reddit user who attended the Palm Springs concert said the opener performed for "just under an hour," rather than only 30 minutes. This didn't affect Rodrigo's schedule, though. The user stated Rodrigo came on stage at 8:40 p.m.

This schedule isn't 100% confirmed but is a good guide for those wondering when they should be in their seats to see Olivia.

How long is the Olivia Rodrigo concert?

The entire concert lasts 2.5 hours, according to Reddit , ending at 10:00 p.m. The opener performs for roughly 30 minutes or so, and Rodrigo performs for 90 minutes.

Again, this time is according to other fans and is not 100% confirmed through official sources.

Who is opening for Olivia Rodrigo's Guts tour?

Rodrigo announced four special guests will open for her during her Guts world tour. Chappell Roan will open for Rodrigo during the tour's first leg, which includes Columbus.

PinkPantheress, an English singer-songwriter and record producer, will open for Rodrigo during the tour's European leg. Remi Wolf, an American singer and songwriter, will open for Rodrigo when she's back in the States during the summer. The Breeders, an alternative rock band, will open for Rodrigo in April at her New York City shows and in August at her Los Angeles shows.

Who is Chappell Roan?

Chappell Roan is a 26-year-old American singer-songwriter known for pop hits that include "Pink Pony Club" and "Red Wine Supernova." Roan is celebrated for her campy persona and was dubbed "LA's queer pop superstar in the making" by the Los Angeles Times.

Roan worked with Dan Nigro, who regularly collaborates with Rodrigo, on her 2023 debut album "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess." The small-town Missouri native performed for a sold-out show at Cincinnati's Andrew J. Brady Music Center on March 10.

Chappell Roan setlist

Chappell Roan performed the following setlist Tuesday during the St. Louis stop on the Guts tour.

  • "Femininomenon."
  • "Naked in Manhattan."
  • "After Midnight."
  • "Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl."
  • "HOT TO GO!"
  • "Red Wine Supernova."
  • "My Kink Is Karma."
  • "Pink Pony Club."

Olivia Rodrigo merchandise

The merchandise sold at the Guts tour stops differs from what's available on Rodrigo's official website .

A TikTok posted in February shows the merchandise available at the show and the items' prices, giving fans a good idea of what they can possibly expect when they're ready to buy merch. According to Elite Daily , this includes the following:

  • Hoodies: $80.
  • Crewneck: $60.
  • Long sleeve T-Shirt: $60
  • Butterfly tote bag: $50
  • T-shirts: $45.
  • Charm bracelet: $40.
  • State charm: $10.
  • Beanie: $40.
  • Tour poster: $20.
  • Light up star: $15.
  • Bandaids: $15.
  • Face gems: $10.
  • Sticker sheet: $10.

A Reddit user who attended the Palm Springs concert claimed merchandise was available outside and inside the venue. Merchandise for the opener, Chappell Roan, was only available inside. Otherwise, all the merchandise should be the same inside and outside the venue.

Where to buy a Guts tour poster

Want to get a poster to remember an iconic night for the rest of your life? There are at least five to choose from.

The TikTok above shows two posters likely available at your concert. One looks to be cream-colored with a sketch of Rodrigo's face inside a star. The other poster is purple and features Rodrigo leaning over a toilet with glitter and stars inside the toilet bowl.

Three different posters are also available on Rodrigo's official site. These include the Guts Would Tour City-Specific Admat poster, Guts Olivia Rodrigo All-American B---- poster and the Bad Idea Right? poster .

What to wear to an Olivia Rodrigo concert on her Guts tour

Doc Martens. Fishnets. Butterfly hair clips. Converses. Sequin tops. Leather pants. Anything Purple. These are just some of the many items perfect for an Olivia Rodrigo concert.

But, if you need inspiration, search some variation of "Olivia Rodrigo Guts tour outfits" on Pinterest or TikTok .

You can always play it safe and rock something from Rodrigo's official merchandise collection or a unique piece of merchandise available on Etsy . (Look how cool these sunglasses are.)

Still struggling to decide? You can take the "Which Olivia Song R U???" quiz to find out which song "should inspire your Guts world tour style." The quiz picks out several pieces of merchandise for you based on your answers to the questions. (I got a Vampire, eep!)
